Skin Penetration and Stability Enhancement of Celastrus paniculatus Seed Oil by 2-Hydroxypropyl-β-Cyclodextrin Inclusion Complex for Cosmeceutical Applications

open access: yesScientia Pharmaceutica, 2018
This study aimed to encapsulate Celastrus paniculatus seed oil (CPSO) in 2-hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin (HPβCD) cavities and investigate their biological activity, physicochemical stability, and skin penetration by vertical Franz diffusion ...

Bioorthogonal Fluorogenic Reporters for Noninvasive Imaging and Urinalysis of Immunotherapeutic Response in Renal Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reported renal‐clearable bio‐orthogonal near‐infrared fluorogenic probes (BGRs) that specifically imaging and urinalysis of granzyme B for dynamic evaluation of RCC immunotherapy. BGRs not only differentiate immunotherapeutic responses in orthotopic RCC mice, but also enable sensitive optical urinalysis of granzyme B in clinical specimens ...

Formulation and characterization of biocompatible and stable I.V. itraconazole nanosuspensions stabilized by a new stabilizer polyethylene glycol-poly(β-Benzyl-L-aspartate) (PEG-PBLA) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Amphiphilic block copolymers, PEG-PBLA with different molecular weights, were synthesized and used as new stabilizers for Itraconazole nannosuspensions (ITZ-PBLA-Nanos).

Synergistic Dual Slip‐Link Toughening of a Water‐Rich Double Network Hydrogel Combining Slide‐Ring and Highly Entangled Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two distinct slip‐link mechanisms – the slide‐ring pulley effect and highly entangled chains – are combined in a water‐rich double network hydrogel, achieving synergistic toughening, near‐complete reversibility, and exceptional friction tear resistance at >$>$91 wt.% water.

Oxidative inactivation of amyloid beta-degrading proteases by cholesterol-enhanced mitochondrial stress

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2019
Familial early-onset forms of Alzheimer's disease (AD) are linked to overproduction of amyloid beta (Aβ) peptides, while decreased clearance of Aβ is the driving force leading to its toxic accumulation in late-onset (sporadic) AD. Oxidative modifications

Phenotype assessment for neurodegenerative murine models with ataxia and application to Niemann–Pick disease, type C1

open access: yesBiology Open, 2022
Identifying meaningful predictors of therapeutic efficacy from preclinical studies is challenging. However, clinical manifestations occurring in both patients and mammalian models offer significant translational value.

Membrane fluidity changes in goat sperm induced by cholesterol depletion using beta-cyclodextrin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Cholesterol efflux from membranes promotes acrosome reaction in goat spermatozoa. In 1 h of incubation of sperm in the presence of beta-cyclodextrin (βCD), all the interchangeable cholesterol is desorbed from sperm membranes, although acrosome reaction ...

Molecular Mobility of N‐Acetylgalactosamine‐Modified Cyclodextrins on a Polyrotaxane for Highly Efficient Liver Targeting of Antibody Chimeras and Genome‐Editing Ribonucleoproteins

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Monovalent N‐acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc)‐modified polyrotaxane enables efficient liver targeting by utilizing ligand mobility. The sliding and rotating cyclic components i.e., cyclodextrin in the polyrotaxane dynamically cluster GalNAc moieties, thereby mimicking trivalent interactions with asialoglycoprotein receptors.
