Characterization of hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrins used in the treatment of Niemann-Pick Disease type C1. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
2-Hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (HPβCD) has gained recent attention as a potential therapeutic intervention in the treatment of the rare autosomal-recessive, neurodegenerative lysosomal storage disorder Niemann-Pick Disease Type C1 (NPC1).

The formation of host–guest complexes between surfactants and cyclodextrins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Cyclodextrins are able to act as host molecules in supramolecular chemistry with applications ranging from pharmaceutics to detergency. Among guest molecules surfactants play an important role with both fundamental and practical applications.

Dissolution/permeation of albendazole in the presence of cyclodextrin and bile salts:a mechanistic in vitro study into factors governing oral bioavailability [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
We aimed to understand the impact of the interplay between bile salts and cyclodextrins on the dissolution-permeation of poorly soluble drug compounds with a moderate-strong binding constant to cyclodextrin.

Nanomicellar Lenalidomide-Fenretinide Combination Suppresses Tumor Growth in an MYCN Amplified Neuroblastoma Tumor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Purpose: In a previous study, we demonstrated that the combination of fenretinide with lenalidomide, administered by a novel nanomicellar formulation (FLM), provided a strong antitumor effect in a neuroblastoma TrkB-expressing tumor.

Atorvastatin Provides a New Lipidome Improving Early Regeneration After Partial Hepatectomy in Osteopontin Deficient Mice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Osteopontin (OPN), a multifunctional cytokine that controls liver glycerolipid metabolism, is involved in activation and proliferation of several liver cell types during regeneration, a condition of high metabolic demands.

Glial contribution to cyclodextrin-mediated reversal of cholesterol accumulation in murine NPC1-deficient neurons in vivo

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2021
Niemann-Pick type C disease is a rare and fatal lysosomal storage disorder presenting severe neurovisceral symptoms. Disease-causing mutations in genes encoding either NPC1 or NPC2 protein provoke accumulation of cholesterol and other lipids in specific ...

FASLG Derived from Fibroblasts in Hydroxyapatite‐Rich Microenvironment Induces Urothelial Anoikis to Trigger Randall's Plaque Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Randall's plaques (RP) serve as the nidus for calcium oxalate (CaOx) kidney stones. The current study reveals that hydroxyapatite (HAP) crystals activate the THY1–GSK3α/β–β‐catenin axis in renal interstitial fibroblasts (hRIFs), inducing FASLG secretion.
