Integration of single‐cell and bulk transcriptomics reveals the association of manganese metabolism‐related genes with prognosis and immune infiltration in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesClinical &Translational Immunology, Volume 15, Issue 3, 2026.
This study developed a prognostic model for lung adenocarcinoma using manganese metabolism‐related genes (MRGs). Nine key MRGs were identified via multi‐omics and LASSO‐Cox analyses to calculate a risk score. The model showed robust predictive performance in both training and validation cohorts.

Hypertension in Overweight and Obesity: Sex‐Specific Role of 4β‐Hydroxycholesterol

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background We have previously proposed novel pathway in overweight/obesity‐induced hypertension involving plasma 4β‐hydroxycholesterol (4βHC), an agonist for LXR (liver X receptor), as a hypotensive factor.

A comprehensive method for extraction and quantitative analysis of sterols and secosteroids from human plasma

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2012
We describe the development of a method for the extraction and analysis of 62 sterols, oxysterols, and secosteroids from human plasma using a combination of HPLC-MS and GC-MS. Deuterated standards are added to 200 μl of human plasma.

Impact of Efavirenz on Heme Protein Induction and Biomarkers: Insights From In Vitro Experiments and a Clinical Study

open access: yesClinical and Translational Science, Volume 19, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Coproporphyrin I (CPI) is increasingly recognized as a reliable endogenous biomarker for hepatic OATP1B transporters. However, confounding mechanisms such as increased heme biosynthesis driven by induction of CYP enzymes, which are hemoproteins, may affect CPI levels independently of OATP1B1 inhibition. The aim of this study was to investigate

CHB‐Induced Immune Zonation Chaos Elicited LXRα‐mediated Lipid Metabolism Disorders in Kupffer Cells to Induce Cancer Stem Cell Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 10, 18 February 2026.
By profiling the spatiotemporal hepatic landscape of CHB mouse models, the originally peri‐portal localized KCs migrated to the peri‐central in a CXCL9‐CXCR3‐dependent manner, facilitating their interaction with HBV+ hepatocytes. The interaction promoted LMD in KCs through ASGR1‐induced LXRα degradation, which, in turn, induced CSC formation via Stat3 ...

Studies of drug disposition in hemodialysis patients : impact of genetics, inflammation and vitamin D [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients are at a high risk for drug adverse effects due to accumulation of drugs, which normally are excreted via the kidneys. It is believed that drugs that are metabolized by the liver are safe to prescribe in normal doses

Exploring mitochondrial cholesterol (mChol) signalling for therapeutic intervention in neurological conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The pharmacological targeting of cholesterol levels continues to draw interest due to the vast success of therapeutics such as statins in extending life expectancy by modifying the prognosis of diseases associated with the impairment of the lipid ...

Changes in Metabolites and Microbial Communities in Follicular Fluid Associated With Ovarian Function in Patients With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Based on the integrated analysis of follicular fluid metabolites and microbial communities in patients with PCOS, this study reveals significant dysregulation in the follicular microenvironment. Key metabolites including D‐glucose and 25‐hydroxycholesterol show marked alterations, while microbial communities such as Alicyclobacillus and Terrimonas ...
