Catalysis in Chemical Modification of Proteins

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
Catalytic principles of synthetic organic chemistry have been increasingly applied to chemical modification of proteins during the recent years. This review article describes how seven types of catalytic systems —electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, metal catalysis, acid catalysis, organocatalysis, supramolecular catalysis, and heterogeneous catalysis ...

[CuI(PPh3)3]‐Mediated Arylation of 1,2,3‐Triazoles

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
Arylation reactions are a powerful strategy to selectively prepare highly substituted heterocyles. Herein, the arylation of 1,4‐disubstituted 1,2,3‐triazoles with [CuI(PPh3)3] is reported in the presence of air and moisture. Suitable substrates include triazoles containing a pyridyl group, which are of interest in applications such as ancillary ligands

Spin State‐Driven Modulation of Catalytic Activity of an Iron Spin‐Crossover Complex: Toward Switchable Catalysis

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
The spin‐crossover (SCO) complex [Fe(NH2trz)3](NO3)2 catalyzes the acetalization reaction, with the high‐spin (HS) state producing up to 26% more acetal than the low‐spin (LS2) state. Acting as a Lewis acid, the SCO complex shows superior catalytic activity in the HS state due to better access to active sites rather than electronic effects under ...

Toward a harmonized methodology to analyze field side effects of two pesticide products on earthworms at the EU level

open access: yesIntegrated Environmental Assessment and Management, Volume 19, Issue 1, Page 254-271, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Before plant protection product (PPP) marketing authorization, a risk assessment for nontarget soil organisms (e.g., earthworms) is required as part of Regulation (EC) No. 1107/2009. Following a stepwise approach, higher tier earthworm field studies are needed if they cannot demonstrate low long‐term risk based on laboratory studies.
