ChemInform Abstract: ACETOIN ENEDIOL CYCLOPHOSPHOROCHLORIDATE

Pyruvic decarboxylase and acetoin formation in Athiorhodaceae
Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1973Studies with cell-free extracts of Rhodopseudomonas palustris strain Q showed that under anaerobic conditions pyruvate was decarboxylated with the stoichiometric formation of carbon dioxide. Other products of the reaction include acetaldehyde and acetoin (acetyl methyl carbinol), indicating the presence of pyruvic decarboxylase. A survey of purple non-

Acetoin as a Metabolite of Ethanol
Acta Physiologica Scandinavica, 1963AbstractBlood acetoin concentrations in rabbits were followed after administration of ethanol to animals receiving disulfiram and to control animals. Disulfiram increased blood acetoin before and after the administration of alcohol. No increase was observed in animals receiving alcohol alone.

Mechanism of acetoin synthesis by α-carboxylase
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1952Abstract 1. 1. Highly purified preparations of α-carboxylase from wheat germ catalyze the synthesis of acetylmethylcarbinol (AMC) from pyruvate and acetaldehyde and from acetaldehyde alone. 2. 2. The AMC thus synthesized has been isolated and its identity established by conversion to diacetyl, periodate degradation, and by analysis of the ...

An acetoin-regulated expression system of Bacillussubtilis
Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2006An expression system, which is based on the promoter of the acoABCL operon of Bacillus subtilis was developed and characterized. The acoABCL operon codes for the acetoin dehydrogenase complex, which is the major enzyme system responsible for the catabolism of acetoin in B. subtilis. Besides weak organic acids, the neutral overflow metabolite acetoin is

Properties of diacetyl (acetoin) reductase from Bacillus stearothermophilus
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 1996The cells of Bacillus stearothermophilus contain an NADH-dependent diacetyl (acetoin) reductase. The enzyme was easily purified to homogeneity, partially characterised, and found to be composed of two subunits with the same molecular weight. In the presence of NADH, it catalyses the stereospecific reduction of diacetyl first to (3S)-acetoin and then to

A Piezoelectric Crystal Detector for Acetoin
Analytical Letters, 1984Abstract A piezoelectric quartz crystal coated with tetrabutyphosphoniun chloride was found to be a good detector for acetoin. The coating is sensitive in the ppb range and completely reversible. The response curve is linear over a concentration range of 8-120 ppb. The detector can be tuned to give a satisfactory response in 30 seconds.

[Acetoin metabolism in animal tissues].
Ukrainskii biokhimicheskii zhurnal (1978), 1988The acetoin-synthesizing activity has been studied in the skeletal muscles, brain, liver and spleen homogenates (numbered as the activity decreases). The acetoin-synthesizing activity drastically increases in case of the acetaldehyde excess and alcohol intoxication.
