Food substances alter gut resistome: Mechanisms, health impacts, and food components
Abstract Antibiotics are effective in treating bacterial infections, but their widespread use has spurred antibiotic resistance, which is linked closely with human disease. While dietary components are known to influence the gut microbiome, specific effects on the gut resistome—the collection of antibiotic‐resistant genes in the gut—remain ...

Abstract Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPRs) are DNA sequences capable of editing a host genome sequence. CRISPR and its specific CRISPR‐associated (Cas) protein complexes have been adapted for various applications. These include activating or inhibiting specific genetic sequences or acting as molecular scissors to cut ...

Selenocompounds as Potent Efflux Pump Inhibitors on Gram‐positive Bacteria
Selenoesters are potent compounds to decrease the virulence of Staphylococcus aureus: hydroxy‐selenoesters MB‐68 and MB‐70, as well as the benzyl‐selenoester MB‐77, are efflux pump inhibitors (EPI), while the aspirin‐selenoester MB‐3, along with MB‐68 and MB‐77 prevent biofilm formation.

Estimating hard winter wheat yield with historical and novel methods
Abstract Estimating potential crop yield during the growing season allows growers to adjust inputs, set reasonable harvest expectations, and guide marketing decisions. Therefore, the ability to estimate yield is a valuable yet difficult goal for growers. To evaluate the potential of several methods of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) grain yield prediction,

WGS identified 27 wzi allele types (2 new), 16 K antigen serotypes, 6 O antigen serotypes, 25 sequence types (3 new), 39 antibiotic resistance and 57 virulence genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae from milk samples of cows with and without mastitis. Phylogenetic analysis showed high genomic diversity in K. pneumoniae.
