Autophagy gene haploinsufficiency drives chromosome instability, increases migration, and promotes early ovarian tumors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Autophagy, particularly with BECN1, has paradoxically been highlighted as tumor promoting in Ras-driven cancers, but potentially tumor suppressing in breast and ovarian cancers.

Deprotonative C(sp3)/C(sp2)–H (Multi)Silylation of (Hetero)Arenes Mediated by NaTMP

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
An operationally simple protocol using a strongly basic sodium amide in combination with sterically emcumbered silicon electrophiles enables the deprotonative C–H (multi)silylation of a myriad of (hetero)arenes. Mechanistic investigations highlight the pivotal role of steric and coordination effects in controlling the regioselectivity and efficiency of

Granulin Knock Out Zebrafish Lack Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration and Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis Pathology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Loss of function mutations in granulin (GRN) are linked to two distinct neurological disorders, frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD) and neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis (NCL).

The electronic spectra of protonated PANH molecules

open access: yes, 2015
Aims. This study was designed to examine the viability of protonated nitrogen-substituted polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (H+PANHs) as candidates for the carriers of the diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs). Methods.

Crystals as Rockets: Modulation of the Salient Temperature in Cocrystals by Solvent Mixture Composition

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Compositionally engineered mixed solvated cocrystals enable modulation of thermosalient actuation. Guest ratio controls thermosalient temperature and propulsion intensity, providing a tunable platform for designing crystalline systems that exhibit stimuli‐responsive mechanical motion.

Acceptorless Dehydrogenative Polymerization

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Acceptor‐less dehydrogenative polymerization (ADP) enables the atom‐economic step‐growth synthesis of different type of polymers directly from simple alcohols, releasing H2 as the sole by‐product. This review outlines the mechanistic foundations, catalytic systems, and emerging polymer architectures of ADP, highlighting its potential as a sustainable ...

Synthetic Modifications of a Pb2+-Sensor Acridono-Crown Ether for Covalent Attachment and Their Effects on Selectivity

open access: yesMolecules
Because of environmental impact, there is a great need for chemosensors, especially for toxic heavy metals such as lead. The conventional instrumental analytical techniques rarely provide an available real-time sensing platform, thus the development of ...

Role of the Recombination Zone in Organic Light‐Emitting Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the critical role of the recombination zone in organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). We highlight that broadening the recombination zone in OLEDs based on emissive layers with balanced charge transport and high photoluminescence quantum yields provides a promising route toward achieving both long operational lifetime and high ...

Hydrogen Atom Transfer Induces Photodegradation in Carbonyl‐Based Multi‐Resonance TADF Emitters

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Boosting triplet harvesting in N/C═O MR‐TADF emitters unexpectedly induces rapid photodegradation under oxygen‐free conditions. Spectroscopic studies reveal that triplet excited states trigger hydrogen‐atom transfer from solvent to the carbonyl unit, driven by triplet energetics and hydrogen electrophilicity.
