Oxadiazole-Based Highly Efficient Bipolar Fluorescent Emitters for Organic Light-Emitting Diodes

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
In this study, a series of bipolar fluorescence emitters named 2DPAc-OXD, DPAc-OXD, 2PTZ-OXD and PTZ-OXD were designed and synthesized with excellent yields. The characterization of materials was investigated by using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) (1H,

Design, Synthesis and biological evaluation of novel acridine-polyamine conjugates against prostate cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Prostate cancer is the most common cause of cancer death in men, aged 85 and over. Androgen receptor, a single polypeptide with three functional domains is very important during initiation and progression of the disease.

Genome-Wide Transposon Screen of a Pseudomonas syringae mexB Mutant Reveals the Substrates of Efflux Transporters. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Bacteria express numerous efflux transporters that confer resistance to diverse toxicants present in their environment. Due to a high level of functional redundancy of these transporters, it is difficult to identify those that are of most importance in ...

Effect of Surface‐Lubricant Compatibility on Bubble Formation in Lubricant‐Infused Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Lubricant‐infused surfaces reduce drag partly through bubbles that form when lubricant depletes. Using laser‐textured steel infused with silicone oil, we show that microbubble nucleation occurs even on surfaces fully wetted by the lubricant, regardless of chemistry.

3D Printed Multimaterial Microfluidic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We introduce a biocompatible, high resolution photopolymer resin that closely mimics the Young's Modulus (elasticity) and reversible stretchability (no hysteresis) of poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS), enabling the fabrication of microfluidic transistors (i.e., microvalves capable of proportional amplification) by multimaterial stereolithography (mSLA ...

Detection of leukocytes stained with acridine orange using unique spectral features acquired from an image-based spectrometer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
A leukocyte differential count can be used to diagnosis a myriad blood disorders, such as infections, allergies, and efficacy of disease treatments. In recent years, attention has been focused on developing point-of-care (POC) systems to provide this ...

Large‐Scale and Cost‐Effective Fabrication of Ultra‐Thin, Biodegradable Microelectrode Arrays and Pressure Sensors Using Laser Micromachining

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A mask‐free and cost‐effective UV‐pico‐second laser‐based microfabrication method is proposed to fabricate large‐area biodegradable microelectrode arrays and pressure sensors. These devices demonstrate low impedance, good conformability, excellent biocompatibility, and rapid degradation, providing a new route for next‐generation transient electronics ...
