Industrial Hydrocarbons Exposure Deteriorates Sperm Integrity and Reproductive Function

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 40, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Occupational exposure to polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) or metal fumes in the workplace may be detrimental to male fertility. The present study compared sperm concentration, total motility, strict morphology and oxidative stress and SDF levels between 81 men, controls (n = 17) and workers from plastic industry workers (n = 18), steel ...

Tumor‐Responsive PLGA‐SS‐HA Nanoparticles for Zinc Complex Delivery Suppress Prostate Cancer via TR3/FTH1 Pathway

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 8, August 2026.
A tumor‐responsive PLGA‐SS‐HA nanoplatform enables glutathione‐triggered delivery of zinc complexes to prostate cancer cells. Enhanced intracellular zinc accumulation induces oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and apoptosis through activation of the TR3/FTH1 signaling pathway.

Mitochondrial membrane remodeling in stress adaptation: Lipid control of organelle quality

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Mitochondria respond to proteotoxic stress through the mitochondrial unfolded protein response, traditionally viewed as a transcriptional program that restores proteostasis by inducing chaperones and proteases. Emerging evidence indicates that mitochondrial membrane remodeling constitutes an additional adaptive component of this response ...

Progerin Hinders Autophagy Flux at Its Final Stages in Hutchinson‐Gilford Progeria Syndrome Cells, Preventing Its Own Autophagic Degradation

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 8, August 2026.
We demonstrated that progerin induces the formation of autophagosomes but impairs their maturation and subsequent fusion with lysosomes. Progerin impedes proper autophagy flux, thus preventing its own autophagic degradation. Selinexor treatment improved both autophagosome maturation and autophagosome‐lysosome fusion, which ultimately led to effective ...
