Structured Waters Mediate Small Molecule Binding to G-Quadruplex Nucleic Acids

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2021
The role of G-quadruplexes in human cancers is increasingly well-defined. Accordingly, G-quadruplexes can be suitable drug targets and many small molecules have been identified to date as G-quadruplex binders, some using computer-based design methods and

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of ethyl 2-[9-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-3,3,6,6-tetramethyl-1,8-dioxo-2,3,4,4a,5,6,7,8a,9,9a,10,10a-dodecahydroacridin-10-yl]acetate

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E: Crystallographic Communications, 2021
In the title compound, C27H33NO5, a 3,3,6,6-tetramethyltetrahydroacridine-1,8-dione ring system carries an ethyl acetate substituent on the acridine N atom and an o-hydroxyphenyl ring on the central methine C atom of the dihydropyridine ring. The benzene

Pro-Apoptotic Antitumoral Effect of Novel Acridine-Core Naphthoquinone Compounds against Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a global public health problem with high incidence and mortality. The chemotherapeutic agents used in the clinic, alone or in combination, usually lead to important side effects.

Acridine form IX [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Crystallographic Communications, 2019
We report a new polymorph of acridine, C13H9N, denoted form IX, obtained as thin needles by slow evaporation of a toluene solution. The structure was solved and refined from powder X-ray data. The structures of five unsolvated forms were previously known, but this is only the second with one molecule in the asymmetric unit.

Acridine 0.75-hydrate [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2011
The title compound, C(13)H(9)N·0.75H(2)O was obtained during a study of the polymorphic system of acridine, by slow evaporation from an ethanol-water solution. There are two acridine mol-ecules (indicated by I and II, respectively) and one and a half water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit.

Evolution of Acridines and Xanthenes as a Core Structure for the Development of Antileishmanial Agents

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2022
Nowadays, leishmaniasis constitutes a public health issue in more than 88 countries, affecting mainly people from the tropics, subtropics, and the Mediterranean area. Every year, the prevalence of this infectious disease increases, with the appearance of

A rapid, chromatography-free route to substituted acridine–isoalloxazine conjugates under microwave irradiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Microwave irradiation was applied to a sequence of condensation reactions from readily available 9-chloroacridines to provide a range of novel acridine–isoalloxazine conjugates.

Comparison of Association Constants of Cyclodextrins and Their tert-Butyl Derivatives With Halogenbenzoic Acids and Acridine Derivatives

open access: yesMolecules, 2001
Association constants of complexes of a new class of cyclodextrin alkyl derivatives - randomly susbstituted tert-butyl derivatives (TB-CDs) with complete set of mono-halobenzoic acids and acridine derivatives were measured using capillary electrophoresis

Phenyl acridine-9-carboxylate [PDF]

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E Structure Reports Online, 2013
The acridine ring system and the benzene ring in the title compound, C20H13NO2, are oriented at a dihedral angle of 6.4 (2)°. The carboxyl group is twisted at an angle of 83.6 (2)° relative to the acridine skeleton. The molecules in the crystal are arranged in stacks along thebaxis, with two of the acridine rings involved in multiple π–π interactions ...

Synthesis, characterization and antitumor activity of 2-methyl-9-substituted acridines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the field of antitumor DNA-intercalating agents, 9-anilinoacridines play an important role due to their antiproliferative properties. Several cancer chemotherapeutics such as amascrine and nitracrine have been developed as anticancer agents.
