In the title compound, C23H24BrNO5, the central 1,4-dihydropyridine ring of the 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10-decahydroacridine ring system adopts a half-chair conformation. The two cyclohexene rings fused to the central ring both have a twisted-boat conformation.

The title compound, C(13)H(9)N·0.75H(2)O was obtained during a study of the polymorphic system of acridine, by slow evaporation from an ethanol-water solution. There are two acridine mol-ecules (indicated by I and II, respectively) and one and a half water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit.
