The NAP motif of activity-dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) regulates dendritic spines through microtubule end binding proteins [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Psychiatry, 2014
The NAP motif of activity-dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) enhanced memory scores in patients suffering from mild cognitive impairment and protected activities of daily living in schizophrenia patients, while fortifying microtubule (MT)-dependent axonal transport, in mice and flies. The question is how does NAP fortify MTs?

HP1 recruits activity-dependent neuroprotective protein to H3K9me3 marked pericentromeric heterochromatin for silencing of major satellite repeats. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
H3 lysine 9 trimethylation (H3K9me3) is a histone posttranslational modification (PTM) that has emerged as hallmark of pericentromeric heterochromatin.

Objective frequency analysis of transient visual evoked potentials in activity dependent neuroprotective protein (adnp) syndrome

open access: yes, 2023
Doctoral dissertation, PhD / YU onlyTime-and frequency-domain measures of transient visual evoked potentials (tVEPs) were examined to advance understanding of neural differences in children with activity dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) syndrome.

In Search of the Hidden Protein: Optimization of Detection Strategies for autism-associated Activity-Dependent Neuroprotective Protein (ADNP) mutants.

open access: yes, 2022
AbstractHeterozygousde novomutations in theActivity-Dependent Neuroprotective Homeobox(ADNP) protein were found to be the common cause underlying the Helsmoortel-Van der Aa syndrome (HVDAS). With most of the patient mutations situated in the last exon, we previously demonstrated the predicted escape from nonsense-mediated decay by detecting ...

ADNP promotes neural differentiation by modulating Wnt/beta-catenin signaling

open access: yes, 2020
ADNP (Activity Dependent Neuroprotective Protein) is a neuroprotective protein whose aberrant expression has been frequently linked to neural developmental disorders, including the Helsmoortel-Van der Aa syndrome (also called the ADNP syndrome). However,

Cloning and characterization of the human activity-dependent neuroprotective protein

open access: yes, 2001
We have recently cloned the mouse activity-dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP). Here, we disclose the cloning of human ADNP (hADNP) from a fetal brain cDNA library.

Protective activity of aromatic amines and imines against oxidative nerve cell death [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Oxidative stress is a widespread phenomenon in the pathology of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

Regulation of activity-dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) by the NO-cGMP pathway in the hippocampus during kainic acid-induced seizure

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2008
Activity-dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) is widely distributed in the cytoplasm of neurons and astrocytes of the hippocampus. Kainic acid (KA)-induced seizures increases neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS) in neurons and inducible NOS (iNOS) in glia cells which coincides with a reduction in ADNP in the hippocampus.

A novel davunetide (NAPVSIPQ Q to NAPVSIPQ E ) point mutation in activity‐dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP) causes a mild developmental syndrome

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, 2023
Abstract NAP (NAPVSIPQ, drug candidate name, davunetide) is the neuroprotective fragment of activity‐dependent neuroprotective protein (ADNP). Recent studies identified NAPVSIP as a Src homology 3 (SH3) domain‐ligand association site, responsible for controlling signalling pathways regulating the cytoskeleton ...
