Juglanin inhibits IL-1β-induced inflammation in human chondrocytes

open access: yesArtificial Cells, Nanomedicine, and Biotechnology, 2019
Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most characterized joint diseases associated with chondrocyte apoptosis. Juglanin has been reported to have anti-inflammation activity. This study aimed to evaluate the protective anti-inflammatory effects of juglanin in

Advances in FGF/FGFR Signaling: Implications for Disease and Therapy

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2026.
The FGF/FGFR signaling is indispensable for the maintenance of physiological homeostasis and governs multiple biological processes, including embryonic development, bone metabolism, angiogenesis, and neurogenesis, whereas aberrant hyperactivation of this pathway drives the progression of malignancies and autoimmune disorders, including inflammatory ...

The High‐Intensity Zone: A Dynamic Inflammatory Hub in Lumbar Disc Degeneration

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 9, Page 1804-1818, September 2026.
The HIZ, a dynamic inflammatory hub in lumbar disc degeneration, links inflammation‐degeneration‐pain; integrating advanced diagnostics and targeted therapies offers precise management for discogenic low back pain. ABSTRACT The lumbar intervertebral disc high‐intensity zone (HIZ), a focal hyperintensity within the annulus fibrosus on T2‐weighted ...

Proteolytic activities of human ADAMTS-5: comparative studies with ADAMTS-4.

open access: yesThe Journal of biological chemistry, 2007
Aggrecanases have been characterized as proteinases that cleave the Glu373-Ala374 bond of the aggrecan core protein, and they are multidomain metalloproteinases belonging to the ADAMTS (adamalysin with thrombospondin type 1 motifs) family. The first aggrecanases discovered were ADAMTS-4 (aggrecanase 1) and ADAMTS-5 (aggrecanase 2).

Lesion Site‐Targeted Microspheres Modulate Nav1.7‐Related Signaling for Osteoarthritis Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 48, 28 August 2026.
Cartilage‐targeted carbamazepine‐loaded WYRGRL‐modified composite microspheres (CBZ/WCOM) anchor to exposed type II collagen in osteoarthritic lesions and release carbamazepine under acidic conditions. This bind‐then‐release platform modulates Nav1.7‐related sodium signaling, Na⁺/Ca²⁺ exchanger‐associated Ca2+ dynamics, and heat shock protein 70 ...

Functional evolution of ADAMTS genes: Evidence from analyses of phylogeny and gene organization

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2005
Background The ADAMTS (A Disintegrin-like and Metalloprotease with Thrombospondin motifs) proteins are a family of metalloproteases with sequence similarity to the ADAM proteases, that contain the thrombospondin type 1 sequence repeat motifs (TSRs ...

Kaempferol Attenuates Spaceflight‐Associated Knee Cartilage Degradation by Targeting NOX4‐Mediated Mitochondrial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 48, 28 August 2026.
We have shown that both simulated and actual spaceflight contribute to cartilage degradation in the knees of mice. Using RNA sequencing and bioenergetic profiling, we identified NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4) as a key factor driving these changes. Additionally, we found that kaempferol, a naturally occurring flavonoid that binds directly to NOX4, reduces ...

Dehydroepiandrosterone inhibits ADAMTS expression via an ERK-dependent mechanism in chondrocytes.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a joint disease in which cartilage degradation is the hallmark pathological change. In this study, we investigated the anti-osteoarthritic effects of DHEA in rabbit chondrocytes.

Electroacupuncture down-regulates expression of ADAMTS-4 of intervertebral disc in rats with lumbar intervertebral disc degeneration

open access: yes针刺研究, 2019
Objective To observe the effect of electroacupuncture(EA)stimulation on the levels of a disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs-4(ADAMTS-4)protein in the lumbar intervertebral disc tissue and serum in prolapsed lumbar intervertebral ...
