Danshensu inhibits the IL-1β-induced inflammatory response in chondrocytes and osteoarthritis possibly via suppressing NF-κB signaling pathway

open access: yesMolecular Medicine, 2021
Purpose Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common inflammatory disease associated with pain and cartilage destruction. Interleukin (IL)-1β is widely used to induce inflammatory response in OA models.

Understanding the expression of oligodendrocyte specific ADAMTS4 following a spinal cord injury and a potential modulator of its expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The average annual incidence of spinal cord injury (SCI) in New Zealand is 22 cases per million people. These patients have impairments to the anatomy and functioning of their cords that result in abolished transmission of sensory, motor, and autonomic ...

ADAMTS4 is a serum biomarker for pulmonary arterial hypertension associated with congenital heart disease

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
ObjectivesPulmonary arterial hypertension associated with congenital heart disease (PAH-CHD) is a cardiopulmonary disorder characterized by pathological pulmonary vascular remodeling and perivascular inflammatory cell infiltration. ADAMTS4 is a secreted,

Increased mRNA expression of ADAMTS1 and ADAMTS4 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells of psoriasis patients developed psoriatic arthritis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
Background and purpose: Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a chronic inflammatory disease associated with psoriasis (PsO) affecting both skin and joint. ADAMTS (A disintegrin-like and metalloproteinase domain with thrombospondin-1 repeats) is a large family of

Concerted actions by MMPs, ADAMTS and serine proteases during remodeling of the cartilage callus into bone during osseointegration of hip implants

open access: yesBone Reports, 2020
Introduction: Although the number of patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty is constantly on the rise, we only have limited knowledge of the molecular mechanisms necessary for successful osseointegration of implants or the reasons why some fail ...

Injectable hyperbranched PEG crosslinked hyaluronan hydrogel microparticles containing mir-99a-3p modified subcutaneous ADSCs-derived exosomes was beneficial for long-term treatment of osteoarthritis

open access: yesMaterials Today Bio, 2023
Exosomes (Exos) secreted by adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) have shown potential in alleviating osteoarthritis (OA). Previous studies indicated that infrapatellar fat pad (IPFP) derived stem cells (IPFSCs) may be more suitable for the treatment of OA ...

Hyaluronan inhibits expression of ADAMTS4 (aggrecanase-1) in human osteoarthritic chondrocytes [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of the Rheumatic Diseases, 2009
Intra-articular injection of hyaluronan (HA) has been suggested to have a disease-modifying effect in osteoarthritis, but little is known about the possible mechanisms. To investigate the effects of HA species of different molecular mass, including 800 kDa (HA800) and 2700 kDa (HA2700), on the expression of aggrecanases (ie, ADAMTS species), which play ...

CD31+ Cell Enrichment Enhances Therapeutic Effects of Stromal Vascular Fraction in Experimental Primary Osteoarthritis: A Preclinical Study in the Dunkin Hartley Guinea Pig Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Both SVF and CD31+ SVF improve spontaneous osteoarthritis, but CD31+ enrichment refines the therapeutic profile rather than broadly enhancing all effects. More distinct benefits are observed in extracellular matrix remodeling, osteochondral integrity, and subchondral/trabecular bone preservation, supporting CD31+‐enriched SVF as a biologically enhanced

Sel1l preserves condylar cartilage matrix homeostasis by regulating PERK signaling

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Our study revealed that the expression of Sel1l was downregulated in OA cartilage and that Sel1l deficiency induced cartilage catabolism. Mechanistically, Sel1l depletion aberrantly activated PERK signaling and resulted in ER stress. PERK inhibition rescued the phenotype of Sel1l‐deficient chondrocytes and alleviated TMJOA pathogenesis.
