The Role of Adenine Nucleotide Translocase in the Assembly of Respiratory Supercomplexes in Cardiac Cells [PDF]

open access: yesCells, 2019
Individual electron transport chain complexes have been shown to assemble into the supramolecular structures known as the respiratory chain supercomplexes (RCS).

Functional expression of human adenine nucleotide translocase 4 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2011
The adenine nucleotide translocase (ANT) mediates the exchange of ADP and ATP across the inner mitochondrial membrane. The human genome encodes multiple ANT isoforms that are expressed in a tissue-specific manner.

Data supporting the involvement of the adenine nucleotide translocase conformation in opening the Tl+-induced permeability transition pore in Ca2+-loaded rat liver mitochondria [PDF]

open access: yesData in Brief, 2016
There we made available information about the effects of the adenine nucleotide translocase (ANT) ‘c’ conformation fixers (phenylarsine oxide (PAO), tert-butylhydroperoxide (tBHP), and carboxyatractyloside) as well as thiol reagent (4,4 ...

Mathematical modeling of mitochondrial adenine nucleotide translocase. [PDF]

open access: yesBiophys J, 2006
We have developed a mathematical model of adenine nucleotide translocase (ANT) function on the basis of the structural and kinetic properties of the transporter. The model takes into account the effect of membrane potential, pH, and magnesium concentration on ATP and ADP exchange velocity.

Refractive Index Imaging Reveals That Elimination of the ATP Synthase C Subunit Does Not Prevent the Adenine Nucleotide Translocase-Dependent Mitochondrial Permeability Transition [PDF]

open access: yesCells, 2023
The mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) is a large, weakly selective pore that opens in the mitochondrial inner membrane in response to the pathological increase in matrix Ca2+ concentration.

Mitochondrial Uncoupling Proteins (UCP1-UCP3) and Adenine Nucleotide Translocase (ANT1) Enhance the Protonophoric Action of 2,4-Dinitrophenol in Mitochondria and Planar Bilayer Membranes [PDF]

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2021
2,4-Dinitrophenol (DNP) is a classic uncoupler of oxidative phosphorylation in mitochondria which is still used in “diet pills”, despite its high toxicity and lack of antidotes.

Interaction of adenine nucleotides with the adenine nucleotide translocase regulates the developmental changes in proton conductance of the inner mitochondrial membrane [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1991
2‐h‐old neonatal liver mitochondria, when depleted of adenine nucleotides, showed an ‘ohmic’ current‐voltage relationship and a higher passive proton permeability of the membrane, resembling fetal mitochondrial behaviors for the proton conductance. Incubation of fetal mitochondria with ATP, GDP or carboxyatractyloside promoted a significant reduction ...

Apigenin sensitizes prostate cancer cells to Apo2L/TRAIL by targeting adenine nucleotide translocase-2. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Apo2 ligand (Apo2L)/tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) is a promising cancer therapeutic agent. Recombinant human Apo2L/TRAIL has been under clinical trials, whereas various kinds of malignant tumors have resistance to Apo2L ...

Protective role of adenine nucleotide translocase in O2-deficient hearts

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physiology-Heart and Circulatory Physiology, 1984
At subsaturating concentrations of palmitoyl-CoA, the carnitine-dependent oxidation of the palmitoyl portion by uncoupled rat heart mitochondria was stimulated by ADP or ATP. This effect was traced to the prevention of acyl-CoA binding to adenine nucleotide translocase and the consequent sparing of acyl-CoA for acylcarnitine formation.

The tumour metabolism inhibitors GSAO and PENAO react with cysteines 57 and 257 of mitochondrial adenine nucleotide translocase [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Cell International, 2012
Background GSAO (4-(N-(S-glutathionylacetyl)amino) phenylarsonous acid) and PENAO (4-(N-(S-penicillaminylacetyl)amino) phenylarsonous acid) are tumour metabolism inhibitors that target adenine nucleotide translocase (ANT) of the inner-mitochondrial ...
