Adipophilin distribution and colocalisation with lipid droplets in skeletal muscle [PDF]

open access: yesHistochemistry and Cell Biology, 2009
Intramyocellular lipids (IMCL) are stored as discrete lipid droplets which are associated with a number of proteins. The lipid droplet-associated protein adipophilin (the human orthologue of adipose differentiation-related protein) is ubiquitously expressed and is one of the predominant lipid droplet-proteins in skeletal muscle.

Die Regulation der Adipophilin-Expression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005

Lipid droplet targeting domains of adipophilin [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2003
Adipophilin (ADPH), a prominent protein component of lipid storage droplets (LSDs), is postulated to be necessary for the formation and cellular function of these structures.

Lipid droplet accumulation and adipophilin expression in follicular thyroid carcinoma

open access: yesBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2023
Follicular neoplasms of the thyroid include follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) and follicular thyroid adenoma (FTA). However, the differences in cytological findings between FTC and FTA remain undetermined. Here, we aimed to evaluate the accumulation of lipid droplets (LDs) and the expression of adipophilin (perilipin 2/ADRP/ADFP), a known LD marker ...

Perilipin and adipophilin expression in lipid loaded macrophages

open access: yesBiochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2007
Lipid-filled macrophages (foam cells) are a defining feature of atherosclerotic plaques. Foam cells contain lipid droplet-associated proteins that in other cell types regulate lipid turnover. In foam cell such proteins may directly affect lipid droplet formation and lipid efflux.

Adipophilin protein expression in muscle – a possible protective role against insulin resistance

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, 2010
Adipophilin is a 50 kDa protein that belongs to the PAT family (perilipin, adipophilin, TIP47, S3‐12 and OXPAT), which comprises proteins involved in the coating of lipid droplets. Little is known about the functional role of adipophilin in muscle. Using the C2C12 cell line as a model, we demonstrate that palmitic acid‐treated cells highly express the ...

Mammary glands of adipophilin-null mice produce an amino-terminally truncated form of adipophilin that mediates milk lipid droplet formation and secretion [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2008
Adipophilin (ADPH), a member of the perilipin family of lipid droplet-associated proteins, is hypothesized to mediate milk lipid formation and secretion.

Spartin activates atrophin-1-interacting protein 4 (AIP4) E3 ubiquitin ligase and promotes ubiquitination of adipophilin on lipid droplets [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2010
Background Spartin protein is involved in degradation of epidermal growth factor receptor and turnover of lipid droplets and a lack of expression of this protein is responsible for hereditary spastic paraplegia type 20 (SPG20).

Metabolic Heterogeneity Confers Differences in the Tumor Microenvironment of Aggressive Types of Melanomas. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Oral Pathol Med
ABSTRACT Background Melanoma affects skin and mucosa and can be particularly aggressive when the lesion is an advanced cutaneous tumor or located in the sinonasal or oral mucosa. Reprogramming of energy metabolism has been defined as a hallmark of cancer; so this study aimed to verify the expression of proteins related to metabolism and cellular ...
