Site-Selective Dynamics of Azidolysozyme [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The spectroscopic response of and structural dynamics around all azido-modified alanine residues (AlaN$_3$) in Lysozyme is characterized. It is found that AlaN$_3$ is a positionally sensitive probe for the local dynamics, covering a frequency range of $\sim 15$ cm$^{-1}$ for the center frequency of the line shape.

Effect of salt on the growth and metabolism of Glycine max

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2012
Soybean plants cultivated with 50, 100 and 200 mM of NaCl, revealed that root growth was less affected by salinity than shoots. Salinity led to a reduction in leaf area and an increase in water content of the roots.

Renal Metabolism of Alanine * [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 1967
In the acidotic dog, alanine is extracted from plasma and utilized as a precursor of ammonia. Simultaneously, it is formed de novo within tubular cells and added to renal venous blood. When plasma concentration is within a normal range, production of alanine greatly exceeds utilization.

Optimization of Copper Stain Removal from Marble through the Formation of Cu(II) Complexes in Agar Gels

open access: yesGels, 2021
Copper complexes with different ligands (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, EDTA, ammonium citrate tribasic, TAC, and alanine, ALA) were studied in aqueous solutions and hydrogels with the aim of setting the optimal conditions for copper stain removal from

Calorimeter for Real-Time Dosimetry of Pulsed Ultra-High Dose Rate Electron Beams

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2020
An aluminum calorimeter was investigated as a possible real-time dosimeter for electron beams with an ultra-high dose per pulse (DPP), as used in FLASH radiation therapy (a few Gy/pulse). Ionization chambers, the most widely used active dosimeter type in

Regulation of hepatic mitochondrial oxidation by glucose-alanine cycling during starvation in humans.

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 2019
In order to determine whether the glucose-alanine cycle regulates rates of hepatic mitochondrial oxidation in humans, we applied positional isotopomer NMR tracer analysis (PINTA) to assess rates of hepatic mitochondrial oxidation and pyruvate carboxylase
