Significance This paper demonstrates that aminoglycoside antibiotics induce the production of the Ap4A in bacteria. Increased intracellular Ap4A, in turn, promotes bacterial cell killing by this class of antibiotics, which correlated well with elevated damage to the bacterial membrane upon aminoglycoside treatment.
