Acute kidney injury and morbi‐mortality associated with “triple whammy” combination: Systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, Volume 91, Issue 11, Page 3031-3041, November 2025.
Aims “Triple whammy” (TW) refers to the concomitant use of diuretics, renin‐angiotensin‐aldosterone system inhibitors (RAASI) and non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The aim of this article is to analyse the association between TW exposure and acute kidney injury (AKI), among other morbi‐mortality outcomes.

European Journal of Heart Failure consensus statement. Heart failure pharmacotherapy for patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and concomitant atrial fibrillation: Review of evidence and call to action

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, Volume 27, Issue 11, Page 2198-2210, November 2025.
Heart failure (HF) and atrial fibrillation (AF) are major global health challenges with rising prevalence and significant morbidity, mortality, and healthcare burden. Despite advances in HF management, AF remains a critical comorbidity that worsens outcomes and requires ad hoc treatment strategies, increasing the risk of non‐adherence and side effects.

Aliskiren, ALTITUDE, and the Implications for ATMOSPHERE [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, 2012
Blockade of the renin–angiotensin system (RAS) is a core therapeutic strategy in systolic heart failure.1 The value of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors was proven in two pivotal trials conducted >20 years ago. More recently, angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) have also been shown to be beneficial in systolic heart failure both as an ...
