Exploring the molecular nature of alternative oxidase regulation and catalysis
Plant mitochondria contain a non-protonmotive alternative oxidase (AOX) that couples the oxidation of ubiquinol to the complete reduction of oxygen to water.

In rheumatoid arthritis, synovial Tregs accumulate but are functionally impaired due to iron overload‐induced ferroptosis. This triggers mitochondrial dysfunction and TXK tyrosine kinase‐mediated signaling, leading to Treg destabilization and inflammation.

Microbial oxidation of arsenite in a subarctic environment: diversity of arsenite oxidase genes and identification of a psychrotolerant arsenite oxidiser [PDF]
Background Arsenic is toxic to most living cells. The two soluble inorganic forms of arsenic are arsenite (+3) and arsenate (+5), with arsenite the more toxic.

Complex I is a crucial respiratory enzyme that conserves the energy from NADH oxidation by ubiquinone‐10 (Q10) in proton transport across a membrane. Studies of its energy transduction mechanism are hindered by the extreme hydrophobicity of Q10, and they

Ecological Adaptation Mechanisms Underlying Successful Plant Reproduction
During floral induction, various environmental and endogenous signals converge to regulate the florigen protein, which is transported from leaves to the SAM to initiate flowering. Within the SAM, a complex network of receptor kinases and small peptides orchestrates floral development with high spatiotemporal precision.

The Influence of Carbohydrate Status and Low Temperature on the Respiratory Metabolism of Mitochondria from Etiolated Leaves of Winter Wheat [PDF]
The separate and combined effect of sucrose (12%, 7 days) and low temperature (2 °С, 7 days) on the growth of plants, the content of carbohydrates in the leaves and oxidative activity of mitochondria isolated from them has been studied on the etiolated ...

Regulation of thermogenesis in flowering Araceae: The role of the alternative oxidase
The inflorescences of several members of the Arum lily family warm up during flowering and are able to maintain their temperature at a constant level, relatively independent of the ambient temperature. The heat is generated via a mitochondrial respiratory pathway that is distinct from the cytochrome chain and involves a cyanide-resistant alternative ...

Printable Conductive Hydrogels for Electrochemical Biosensing and Soft Bioelectronic Interfaces
Flexible, conductive hydrogels that integrate printability, mechanical tunability, biocompatibility, and electronic performance remain challenging to achieve. Here, we develop 3D‐printable poly(ethylene glycol)–poly(pyrrole)‐ hydrogels with tissue‐like mechanics, high cytocompatibility, and robust electrochemical function.
