Alternative reproduction pathway inAspergillus nidulans
Folia Microbiologica, 2003Recombinant haploid segregants were recovered in filamentous fungus Aspergillus nidulans (Eidam) G. Winter directly from the heterokaryons instead of diploid segregants (process described earlier as parameiosis). In spite of the reproductive complexity of A. nidulans, parameiosis has only now been observed in this fungus.

Alternative Certification Pathways
Education and Urban Society, 2011The purpose of this article is to examine the proliferation of alternative certification pathways through an analysis of the role and history of teacher certification and supply followed by a synthesis of national, regional, and state research studies on alternative routes to certification programs and a review of studies conducted on well-known ...

Biochemistry The low-molecular-weight thiol glutathione (GSH) is essential for growth in eukaryotes and plays a central role in stress responses and the maintenance of redox homeostasis in certain bacteria. Surprisingly, most aerobic bacteria lack the GSH biosynthesis enzyme glutamate cysteine ligase (GshA), although many have genes encoding proteins ...

[Alternative complement pathway].
La semaine des hopitaux : organe fonde par l'Association d'enseignement medical des hopitaux de Paris, 1984The alternative complement pathway comprises three component proteins C3, B, D and three regulatory proteins P, H and I. These plasma proteins represent the major humoral defense mechanism against infection in a non-immune host. The following topics are reviewed: biochemistry of the alternative pathway proteins; molecular mechanisms of activation and ...
