The present work aimed to describe and compare both gross and microscopic structure of the oesophagus of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and African catfish (Clarias gariepinus). For this purpose, 60 specimens of oesophagus of Nile tilapia (omnivorous fish) and African catfish (carnivorous fish) were collected and processed.

Spatiotemporal distribution and population biology aspects of Cetengraulis edentulus (Actinopterygii: Clupeiformes: Engraulidae) in a South-western Atlantic estuary, with notes on the local Clupeiformes community: Conservation implications [PDF]
Background. Guanabara Bay is a species-rich estuary in the South-western Atlantic and its shores are among the most densely populated urban areas in the world. The biology of clupeiform fishes from Guanabara Bay is currently poorly known.

Global change is reshaping marine habitats, altering predator–prey interactions and food web dynamics. Using Boosted Regression Trees, we assess habitat suitability shifts for crustaceans, fish, penguins, and pinnipeds across three Southern Hemisphere regions from 1850 to 2100 under two climate scenarios.

Abstract Clupeiform fishes are ecologically and economically important species contributing to industrial and artisanal fisheries worldwide. They represent key links in food webs, influencing the dynamic between trophic levels. The dietary interactions of these species are poorly studied in many regions, yet essential for fisheries management.
