Long non‐coding RNAs at the crossroads of inflammation, cancer and angiogenesis: Molecular mechanisms and their potential as therapeutic targets

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs), a broad class of non‐protein‐coding RNAs, are characterized as new regulators of gene expression at the epigenetic, transcriptional, and post‐transcriptional level. Thus, lncRNAs are involved in the regulation of physiological processes and the development of human diseases and cancer by modulating proinflammatory ...

Zeb2 Controls Retinal Physiological and Pathological Angiogenesis by Regulating Astrocyte Proliferation and Differentiation

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
During development, the oxygen‐sensitive transcription factor Zeb2 restrains astrocyte proliferation and maturation to ensure balanced retinal angiogenesis. In disease, it promotes the neurotoxic A1 astrocyte phenotype and inflammation, thereby promoting reparative revascularization over pathological neovascularization.

CD36‐mediated lipid rewiring in the metabolic adaptation of tumour ecosystems

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Nutrient deprivation drives a lipid‐centric shift in tumour metabolic symbiosis and signalling network. CD36 functions as a bidirectional bridge, transferring fatty acids from stromal donors (adipocytes, CAFs) to the ecosystem tumour‐ and microenvironment‐dependently.

Optimal Hypoxia Mimetic Small Molecules for Enhancing Angiogenic Properties of Stem Cells From Human Exfoliated Deciduous Teeth

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Hypoxic preconditioning of cells holds promise for regenerative therapies, yet identifying effective and safe methods for clinical application remains challenging. We aimed to determine optimal hypoxia‐mimetic small molecules (SMs) that stabilize hypoxia‐inducible factor‐1α (HIF‐1α) and their dosages for hypoxic preconditioning in stem ...

The Interplay of M1 Macrophages and Dental Pulp Stem Cells Promotes Angiogenesis Through IL‐8‐Dependent VEGF Regulation: An In Vitro Study

open access: yesInternational Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Dental pulp inflammation triggers immune responses involving macrophages and dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs), which interact to regulate angiogenesis essential for tissue repair. M1 pro‐inflammatory macrophages predominate early in pulpitis, and clarifying their angiogenic role is vital in identifying inflammatory regenerative ...

The miR‐145‐5p/NRF2/SLC7A11 axis regulates ferroptosis‐mediated renal tubular epithelial cell injury in diabetic nephropathy

open access: yesJournal of Diabetes Investigation, EarlyView.
Suppression of miR‐145‐5p alleviates DN‐associated renal tissue damage by inhibiting NRF2/SLC7A11‐mediated ferroptosis of RTECs. ABSTRACT Purpose This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanism by which the miR‐145‐5p/NRF2/SLC7A11 axis regulates ferroptosis‐mediated renal tubular epithelial cell (RTEC) injury in diabetic nephropathy (DN ...
