Correlations Among Glycemia and Glucose Variability, Thyroid Hormones, and Albuminuria in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hyperglycemia, glucose fluctuations, and thyroid dysfunction contribute to the progression of diabetic nephropathy. This study aimed to investigate the associations of glycemia, glucose variability, and thyroid hormones with albuminuria in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). In total, 451 T2DM patients were included.

Omics GWAS: A Multi‐Omics Integrative Analysis Platform for Genome‐Wide Association Studies

open access: yesMed Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT With the rapid advancement of genome‐wide association studies (GWAS), downstream analyses of GWAS data have become essential for elucidating the genetic mechanisms that underlie complex diseases. However, current post‐GWAS analyses face numerous challenges, including heterogeneous data formats, challenges in multi‐omics integration, and ...

Angiotensin-(1–7): an update

Regulatory Peptides, 2000
The renin-angiotensin system is a major physiological regulator of arterial pressure and hydro-electrolyte balance. Evidence has now been accumulated that in addition to angiotensin (Ang) II other Ang peptides [Ang III, Ang IV and Ang-(1-7)], formed in the limited proteolysis processing of angiotensinogen, are importantly involved in mediating several ...

Angiotensin-(1–7) and the renin–angiotensin system

Current Opinion in Nephrology and Hypertension, 2007
In this review we will focus on the recent findings related to angiotensin-(1-7) as an angiotensin II counter-regulatory peptide within the renin-angiotensin system. The identification of the angiotensin-converting enzyme homologue ACE2 as an angiotensin peptide processing enzyme and of Mas as a receptor for angiotensin-(1-7) has contributed to ...

Angiotensin (1-7) and other Angiotensin Peptides

Current Pharmaceutical Design, 2013
In the classical renin angiotensin system (RAS), angiotensin II Ang IIplays many important roles in cardiovascular disease and in kidney, brain, and other organs via the Ang II type 1 receptor (AT1). The RAS consists of many angiotensin peptides, including Ang (1-7), Ang (1-9), Ang (2-8), and Ang IV. Ang (1-7), produced by angiotensin-converting enzyme

Angiotensin-(1–7) in the ovine fetus

American Journal of Physiology-Regulatory, Integrative and Comparative Physiology, 2001
In the adult animal, ANG-(1–7) may counterbalance some effects of ANG II. Its effects in the fetus are unknown. Basal ANG-(1–7), ANG I, ANG II, and renin concentrations were measured in plasma from ovine fetuses and their mothers ( n = 10) at 111 days of gestation.

Role of the ACE2/Angiotensin 1–7 Axis of the Renin–Angiotensin System in Heart Failure

open access: yesCirculation Research, 2016
Heart failure (HF) remains the most common cause of death and disability, and a major economic burden, in industrialized nations. Physiological, pharmacological, and clinical studies have demonstrated that activation of the renin-angiotensin system is a ...
