Magnetically Guided Mechanoactive Mineralization Scaffolds for Enhanced Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed ‘rebar‐concrete’ inspired scaffold (PGS‐P@MGel) synergizes spontaneous biomineralization with magneto‐mechanical stimulation through PDA@Fe3O4‐embedded hydrogel. This dual biointerface activates Piezo1/β‐catenin/YAP mechanotransduction axis, enhancing BMSCs osteogenesis and angiogenesis simultaneously.

Platelet antibodies identification: comparison between two laboratory tests

open access: yesHematology, Transfusion and Cell Therapy, 2022
Introduction: Platelet antibody identification is indispensable for diagnosing the human platelet antigen (HPA) or human leukocyte antigen (HLA) immunization, mostly because it can restrict the compatibility and results of transfusions. Correct detection

Platelet-independent methods for detecting antibodies to human platelet antigens.

open access: yesBlood transfusion = Trasfusione del sangue, 2015
Dear Sir, I read with great interest the review paper entitled “Advances in alloimmune thrombocytopenia: perspectives on current concepts of human platelet antigens, antibody detection strategies, and genotyping” by Hayashi T et al., which was published recently in Blood Transfusion1.

Short‐Chain Fatty Acids Modulate Anti‐ROR1 CAR T‐Cell Function and Exhaustion in an Intestinal Adenocarcinoma‐on‐Chip Model

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Short‐chain fatty acids modulate anti‐ROR1 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T‐cell function in an intestinal adenocarcinoma‐on‐chip model. Butyrate and propionate reduce cytotoxicity, cytokine release, and infiltration by inducing a regulatory T‐cell phenotype and T‐cell exhaustion via histone deacetylase inhibition.

Adjusting Cell‐Surface Interactions Through a Covalent Immobilization of Biomolecules

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This review presents an overview of current and emerging immobilization techniques coupled with an in‐depth investigation of the underlying mechanisms governing the activity and stability of covalently immobilized biomolecules. The aim of this study is to serve as a guide for the development of long‐lasting biomedical coatings with versatile biological

Frequency of human platelet antigens in oncohematological patients with thrombocytopenia and the probability of incompatibility to platelet transfusions Frequência dos antígenos plaquetários humanos (HPA) em pacientes trombocitopênicos e predisposição à incompatibilidade transfusional

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Hematologia e Hemoterapia, 2012
OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to evaluate the frequencies of human platelet antigens in oncohematological patients with thrombocytopenia and to analyze the probability of their incompatibility with platelet transfusions.

Human platelet antigen polymorphisms and the risk of chronic Chagas disease cardiomyopathy

open access: yesPlatelets, 2020
Human platelet antigen (HPA) polymorphisms are considered to be a risk factor for cardiac and vascular diseases, but the role of HPA in chronic Chagas disease cardiomyopathy (CCC) is not available.

Progress and Application of Multifunctional Hydrogel in Radioactive Skin Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This review examines healing challenges in radiation‐wound injuries, where ionizing radiation impairs immune and tissue repair processes. Hydrogels, with their biocompatibility, antimicrobial properties, and drug delivery capabilities, present a transformative solution. It compares hydrogel efficacy in radiation‐induced versus common wounds, highlights

The role of PAF in immunopathology: From immediate hypersensitivity reactions to fungal defense

open access: yesBioFactors, Volume 48, Issue 6, Page 1217-1225, November/December 2022., 2022
Abstract Platelet‐activating factor (PAF, 1‐alkyl‐2‐acetyl‐sn‐glycero‐3‐phosphorylcholine) was discovered when the mechanisms involved in the deposition of immune complex in tissues were being scrutinized in the experimental model of rabbit serum sickness.

Computer-assisted vaccine design [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
We define a new parameter to quantify the antigenic distance between two H3N2 influenza strains: we use this parameter to measure antigenic distance between circulating H3N2 strains and the closest vaccine component of the influenza vaccine. For the data between 1971 and 2004, the measure of antigenic distance correlates better with efficacy in humans ...
