Navigating the Ethereal Tightrope: The Nanogenerator Manipulates Neurons for Immune Equilibrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review explores how nanogenerators modulate neuroimmune responses, offering innovative strategies for treating neurological disorders. By interfacing with neural pathways, they enable precise control of immune activity, especially via vagus nerve stimulation.

Vaccine and antibody therapy against Thomsen–Friedenreich Tumor-Associated Carbohydrate Antigens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Thomsen Friedenreich (TF) carbohydrate antigens are a group of short O-glycans overexpressed on most carcinomas that have been correlated with cancer progression and poor prognosis. Usually associated with immunosuppressive tumorenvironment, there is a number of potential immunotherapeutics against TF antigens have been developed, which comprise ...

The cytokine-cosmc signaling axis upregulates the tumor-associated carbohydrate antigen Tn

open access: yesOncotarget, 2016
Tn antigen (GalNAc-α-O-Ser/Thr), a mucin-type O-linked glycan, is a well-established cell surface marker for tumors and its elevated levels have been correlated with cancer progression and prognosis. There are also reports that Tn is elevated in inflammatory tissues. However, the molecular mechanism for its elevated levels in cancer and inflammation is

Palmitoylation‐Mediated Ubiquitination of SRPK1 Regulates Ferroptosis in High‐Fat‐Induced Erectile Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Elevated exogenous palmitic acid promotes the S‐palmitoylation of SRPK1 in endothelial cells, a dynamic process governed by ZDHHC24 and APT1. This post‐translational modification strengthens the interaction between SRPK1 and the E3 ubiquitin ligase MIB1, thereby facilitating the proteasomal degradation of SRPK1.

Platelets and galectins [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A major function of platelets is keeping the vascular system intact. Platelet activation at sites of vascular injury leads to the formation of a hemostatic plug.

Fermented Lacticaseibacillus Paracasei Cultures Ameliorate Colitis by Modulating Microbiota‐Derived Tryptophan Metabolism and Macrophage Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A solid‐state fermented probiotic (PYW) is developed using wheat bran as substrate, containing high viable Lacticaseibacillus paracasei and bioactive metabolites. PYW alleviates intestinal inflammation by gut microbiota composition, enriching indole derivatives, activating aryl hydrocarbon receptor signaling, and regulating macrophage polarization. PYW

Influenza and memory T cells : how to awake the force [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Annual influenza vaccination is an effective way to prevent human influenza. Current vaccines are mainly focused on eliciting a strain-matched humoral immune response, requiring yearly updates, and do not provide protection for all vaccinated individuals.

GlycoChat Uncovers Glycan–Lectin Circuits in the Tumor Microenvironment of Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Aberrant glycosylation drives cancer progression, yet its role in the tumor microenvironment remains unclear. We developed GlycoChat to map glycan–lectin circuits at single‐cell resolution. We discovered that cancer cells induce immunosuppressive macrophage differentiation and impair phagocytosis through interactions with CLEC10A and SIGLEC3 ...

GMMA decorated with mucin 1 Tn/STn mimetics elicit specific antibodies response and inhibit tumor growth

open access: yesnpj Vaccines
Carbohydrate-based therapeutic vaccines are actively pursued as targeted immunotherapy to treat cancer. Aberrant glycosylation is indeed of paramount importance in tumors, leading to the formation of “neo-epitopes”, known as tumor-associated carbohydrate

CA72-4 e CEA no soro e no lavado peritonial de doentes com câncer gástrico CA72-4 and CEA in serum and peritoneal washing in gastric cancer
