ASS1 inhibits liver cancer by promoting CAD ubiquitination and reversing the urea cycle and pyrimidine synthesis imbalance. [PDF]
Background: The urea cycle and pyrimidine synthesis occur mainly in the liver and undergo opposite changes during hepatocarcinogenesis. Argininosuccinate synthase 1 (ASS1) and carbamoyl-phosphate synthetase 2, aspartate transcarbamylase, and ...

This review elucidates how cancer cell metabolic reprogramming—across glucose, lipid, amino acid, and nucleotide pathways—remodels the tumor microenvironment to suppress anti‐tumor immunity and promote immune escape. Targeting these metabolic axes offers promising strategies to overcome immunotherapy resistance and enhance cancer treatment.

Fumarate and Its Esters: Physiology, Pathology, Molecular Mechanisms, Diseases, and Therapy
Fumarate is an endogenous immunometabolite that regulates metabolism, redox homeostasis, and inflammation. Although fumaric acid esters (FAEs) share several molecular targets with fumarate, their distinct physicochemical properties confer unique biological activities and therapeutic applications.

The Role and Regulation of Argininosuccinate Synthase in Endothelial Function
While cellular levels of arginine greatly exceed the apparent Km for endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS), nitric oxide (NO) production is limited by availability of arginine. Results from this work have provided a unique understanding of endothelial

Mutations and polymorphisms in the human argininosuccinate lyase (ASL) gene [PDF]
Argininosuccinate lyase deficiency (ASLD) is caused by a defect of the urea cycle enzyme argininosuccinate lyase (ASL) encoded by the ASL gene. Patients often present early after birth with hyperammonemia but can also manifest outside the neonatal period

Lipopolysaccharide induces nitric oxide synthase expression and platelet-activating factor increases nitric oxide production in human fetal membranes in culture [PDF]
Platelet-activating factor and nitric oxide may be involved in the initiation of human labour as inflammatory mediators. The aim of this study was to test whether platelet-activating factor and lipopolysaccharide were able to induce nitric oxide synthase
