Ascorbate biosynthesis in mitochondria is linked to the electron transport chain between complexes III and IV [PDF]
Ascorbic acid is synthesized from galactono-γ-lactone (GL) in plant tissues. An improved extraction procedure involving ammonium sulfate precipitation of membrane proteins from crude leaf homogenates yielded a simple, quick method for determining tissue ...

Frontal lobe traumatic brain injury is associated with hyperactivity of an insular–orbitofrontal circuit in both patients and mice. By combination of integrating functional imaging, cell‐type–specific circuit manipulation, single‐cell transcriptomics, and whole‐cell recordings, this work identifies the downregulation of the potassium channel KCNC3 in ...

Astrocyte‐specific SHP1 deletion disrupts astrocyte–vascular interactions and compromises BBB integrity while enhancing STAT1‐dependent CXCL10 expression. These changes synergistically promote peripheral CD4+ and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration into the SDH. The infiltrating T cells secrete IFN‐γ, which in turn activates microglia.

Ascorbate uptake by isolated rat lung cells [PDF]
Experiments were done to determine the intracellular concentration of ascorbate in isolated rat lung cells and the concentration in plasma and to study ascorbate influx in these cells. The intracellular ascorbate concentration was 2.25 mM and the plasma

Investigating the effect of ascorbate and salt on sodium, chlorine and some organic compounds in DPX soybean plant [PDF]
Salinity stress is an important environmental factor that limits plant growth and production. The harmful effects of salinity on plants have been identified either in the form of plant death or in the form of reduced growth.
