Comparison of Aflatoxin Contamination and Dietary Exposure From Complementary Foods Among Rural Tanzanian Infants Enrolled in the Mycotoxin Mitigation Trial

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
The Mycotoxin Mitigation Trial (MMT) followed infants from age 6 months to age 18 months. In one arm all infants were provided with aflatoxin safe flours (maize/groundnut mix and groundnut) for complementary feeding throughout; while the other arm undertook their usual practice, Standard of Care arm.

Sex‐Specific Renal Proteomic Responses to Mycotoxins and Their Mitigation by Bioactive Food Ingredients

open access: yesMolecular Nutrition &Food Research, Volume 70, Issue 4, 26 February 2026.
In vivo exposure to AFB1 and OTA markedly disrupts proteomic patterns in rats, with males showing heightened sensitivity. Fermented whey and pumpkin alleviated toxin‐induced molecular damage by decreasing differentially expressed proteins, demonstrating their potential to mitigate molecular disturbances and supporting their role as functional dietary ...

Purification and characterization of mannitol dehydrogenase from Aspergillus parasiticus [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology, 1982
Mannitol dehydrogenase, NADP specific (EC 1.1.1.138), was purified from mycelium of Aspergillus parasiticus (1-11-105 Whl). The enzyme had a molecular weight of 1.4 X 10(5) and was composed of four subunits of apparently equal size. The substrate specificity was limited to D-mannitol, D-glucitol, D-arabinitol, 1-deoxy-D-mannitol, and 1-deoxy-D-glucitol.

Evaluation of a novel anti‐mycotoxin agent specific for aquatic species in mitigating aflatoxin B1‐induced changes in Nile tilapia: A comprehensive study

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 57, Issue 1, February 2026.
Abstract Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) contamination of aquaculture feed poses serious health risks to fish and consumers. In this study, the efficacy of a novel anti‐mycotoxin agent specific for aquatic species (AM‐AQ) containing bentonite, sepiolite, and orange peel meal (Citrus Sinensis) in alleviating AFB1 toxicity in Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) was
