Neurocognitive, School‐Based, and Quality of Life Outcomes for Youth With Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemia: A Scoping Review

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The medical burdens of sickle cell disease (SCD) and transfusion‐dependent β‐thalassemia (TDT) are chronic and cumulative, even in children. Yet the effects expand beyond medications and healthcare visits due to their impacts on school attendance, academic performance, and peer engagement.

Association of Gene Expression and Tremor Network Structure

open access: yesMovement Disorders
AbstractBackgroundTranscriptomic changes in the essential tremor (ET)–associated cerebello‐thalamo‐cortical “tremor network” and their association to brain structure have not been investigated.ObjectiveThe aim was to characterize molecular changes associated with network‐level imaging‐derived phenotypes (IDP) found in ET.MethodsWe performed an imaging ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

The power of protein interaction networks for associating genes with diseases

open access: yesBioinformatics, 2010
Abstract Motivation: Understanding the association between genetic diseases and their causal genes is an important problem concerning human health. With the recent influx of high-throughput data describing interactions between gene products, scientists have been provided a new avenue through which these associations can be inferred ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Computational identification of promising genetic markers associated with molecular mechanisms of reduced rice resistance to Rhizoctonia solani under excess nitrogen fertilization using gene network reconstruction and analysis methods

open access: yesВавиловский журнал генетики и селекции
Although nitrogen fertilizers increase rice yield, their excess can impair plant resistance to diseases, particularly sheath blight caused by Rhizoctonia solani.
