Horseradish and soybean peroxidases: comparable tools for alternative niches? [PDF]
Horseradish and soybean peroxidases (HRP and SBP, respectively) are useful biotechnological tools. HRP is often termed the classical plant heme peroxidase and although it has been studied for decades, our understanding has deepened since its cloning and ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Catalytic enantioselective synthesis of quaternary carbon stereocentres. [PDF]
Quaternary carbon stereocentres-carbon atoms to which four distinct carbon substituents are attached-are common features of molecules found in nature. However, before recent advances in chemical catalysis, there were few methods of constructing single ...

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Le limonène dans les huiles essentielles : énantiomères et activités biologiques
Literature data are used to identify the enantiomeric diversity of limonene in 54 essential oils composed of between 0.3–99.7% of this molecule. Significant enantiomeric excesses are observed, either in (R)-(+)-, or in (S)-(–)-limonene, and more rarely ...

Research progress of chiral rare earth complexes in asymmetric catalysis
With the increasing demand of the optical compounds, asymmetric catalysis becomes a hot research area. The rare earth elements are defined as the elements of lanthanide from La to Lu,together with Sc and Y.Compared to the orbital interaction between the ...

Recycling in Asymmetric Catalysis [PDF]
Cyclic reaction networks consisting of an enantioselective product-forming step and a reverse reaction of the undesired enantiomer back to starting reactant are important for the generation of compounds with high enantiomeric purity. In order to avoid an equilibrium racemic state, a unidirectional cyclic process where product formation and regeneration
