Unveiling protective mechanisms of wild olive (acebuche) oil in retinal pigment epithelial cells with hypertensive phenotype

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, Volume 604, Issue 11, Page 4166-4185, 1 June 2026.
Abstract figure legend Circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from acebuche (ACE) oil‐ and extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)‐fed mice modulate nitric oxide (NO) metabolism in the retinal pigment epithelial cell line (ARPE19) with a hypertensive phenotype induced by angiotensin II (AngII).

Agonistic autoantibodies directed against the angiotensin II At1 receptor in patients with preeclampsia

open access: yes, 2003
We showed that sera from patients with preeclampsia contain autoantibodies directed against the angiotensin II AT1 receptor. The antibodies recognize an epitope on the second extracellular loop of the receptor and are immunoglobulins of the IgG3 subclass.

Acute GLP‐1 infusion in male adults lowers circulating angiotensin II without changing angiotensinogen, ACE, ACE2, or angiotensin‐(1–7) concentrations

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 14, Issue 11, June 2026.
Abstract Glucagon‐like peptide‐1 (GLP‐1) receptor agonists elicit cardiovascular and renal protection. In humans, GLP‐1 reduces plasma angiotensin II (ANGII) and increases renal perfusion, leading to increased natriuresis. The mechanisms underlying suppression of ANGII remain unclear but may involve ACE2 activation and/or a decrease in angiotensinogen.

Emerging Benefits of AT1 Receptor Antagonists With Pleiotropic Anti-Inflammatory Activity

open access: yes, 2011
In summary, angiotensin receptor antagonists with pleiotropic properties, such as telmisartan, have a great deal to recommend them in the treatment of the metabolic syndrome: they are antihypertensive, anti-inflammatory, may lower blood glucose ...

Sarcosine1,glycine8 angiotensin II is an AT1 angiotensin II receptor subtype selective antagonist

open access: yes, 2003
Studies predating the discovery of the two major subtypes of angiotensin II (Ang II) receptors, AT1 and AT2, revealed anomalous characteristics of sarcosine1,glycine8 Ang II (Sar1,Gly8 Ang II).

Immunohistochemical localization of rat angiotensin II AT1 receptor

open access: yes, 1993
To study receptors for angiotensin II, polyclonal rabbit anti-peptide antisera were prepared against the peptide QDDCPKAGRHC corresponding to amino acids 15-24 of the rat AT1A and AT1B receptors.

Effect of potassium depletion on proximal tubule AT1 receptor localization in normal and remnant rat kidney

open access: yes, 2001
Effect of potassium depletion on proximal tubule AT1 receptor localization in normal and remnant rat kidney.BackgroundSince both potassium depletion and renal ablation result in proximal tubule hypertrophy and the angiotensin II type 1 (AT1) receptor has
