Diazoxide affects mitochondrial bioenergetics by the opening of mKATP channel on submicromolar scale

open access: yesBMC Molecular and Cell Biology, 2020
Background Cytoprotection afforded by mitochondrial ATP-sensitive K+-channel (mKATP-channel) opener diazoxide (DZ) largely depends on the activation of potassium cycle with eventual modulation of mitochondrial functions and ROS production.

ATP-sensitive K(+)-channels in muscle cells: features and physiological role [PDF]

open access: yesThe Ukrainian Biochemical Journal, 2014
ATP-sensitive K+-channels of plasma membranes belong to the inward rectifier potassium channels type. They are involved in coupling of electrical activity of muscle cell with its metabolic state.

Role of potassium conductance in mechanisms of exrtacellular atp impact on the contractive activity of vascular smooth muscle cells

open access: yesБюллетень сибирской медицины, 2017
The purpose of this work is to study the influence of extracellular ATP (adenosine-3-phosphate), which is an activator of purinergic receptors, on contractive activity of rat aortic ring segments precontracted by α1-adrenoreceptors activation with ...

ATP-Sensitive Potassium Channel-Deficient Mice Show Hyperphagia but Are Resistant to Obesity [PDF]

open access: yesDiabetes & Metabolism Journal, 2011
BackgroundThe hypothalamus, the center for body weight regulation, can sense changes in blood glucose level based on ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels in the hypothalamic neurons.

A KATP channel opener inhibited myocardial reperfusion action potential shortening and arrhythmias [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Low concentrations of certain KATP channel openers have been reported to exert a moderate inhibitory effect on arrhythmias during post-ischaemic early myocardial reperfusion, but the accompanying effects on the time course of ...

Endothelial biology and ATP-sensitive potassium channels [PDF]

open access: yesChannels, 2018
ATP sensitive potassium (KATP) channels are metabolic sensors with channel activity promoted by decreases in ATP and\or increases in MgADP.

The ATP sensitive potassium channel (KATP) is a novel target for migraine drug development

open access: yesFrontiers in Molecular Neuroscience, 2023
Migraine is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide, affecting work and social life. It has been estimated that sales of migraine medicines will reach 12.9 billion USD in 2027.

Intractable hyperkalemia due to nicorandil induced potassium channel syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Cardiac Anaesthesia, 2015
Nicorandil is a commonly used antianginal agent, which has both nitrate-like and ATP-sensitive potassium (K ATP ) channel activator properties. Activation of potassium channels by nicorandil causes expulsion of potassium ions into the extracellular space

Do KATP channels open as a prominent and early feature during ischaemia in the Langendorff-perfused rat heart? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The objective was to investigate whether myocardial adenosine triphosphate-sensitive K+ (KATP) channels open during the first 10 min of regional ischaemia in Langendorff-perfused rat hearts.

Anaesthetic phencyclidine, blocker of the ATP‐sensitive potassium channels [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1994
The double sucrose gap and patch‐clamp studies revealed that phencyclidine blocked the ATP‐sensitive K+ channel in isolated cardiac cells (half‐maximal inhibition at ≈20 μM; Hill coefficient ≈1). 10μM phencyclidine increased the inward Ca2+ current and blocked the outward K+ current in the frog auricle trabeculae.
