Avenanthramide A triggers potent ROS-mediated anti-tumor effects in colorectal cancer by directly targeting DDX3

open access: goldCell Death and Disease, 2019
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a common malignant gastrointestinal tumor with high mortality worldwide. Drug resistance and cytotoxicity to normal cells are the main causes of chemotherapeutic treatment failure in CRC.

Improved Chemical Synthesis of Avenanthramides Family and its Analogs by Mixed Anhydride Method

open access: hybridEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 21, June 3, 2025.
Valuable phytochemicals, including avenanthramides A, B, C, E, and some analogs, have been rapidly prepared as carbonate‐protected derivatives in acetone, achieving high yields by crystallization.. This process utilizes the mixed anhydride method with a triethylamine‐isobutyl chloroformate reagent system. The protection can be readily removed on demand

New series of avenanthramides in oat seed

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2014
Abstract Avenanthramides are characteristic constituents of oat seeds. We analyzed the methanol extract of oat seeds by HPLC and detected three compounds 1, 2, and 3 eluted at retention times similar to avenanthramides. The three compounds were purified by column chromatography and HPLC.

Composition and content of phenolic acids and avenanthramides in commercial oat products: are oats an important polyphenol source for consumers? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Oats contain a range of phenolic acids and avenanthramides which may have health benefits. Analysis of 22 commercial oat products (oat bran concentrate, oat bran, flaked oats, rolled oats and oatcakes) using HPLC-DAD detected eleven bound and thirteen ...

The Biosynthetic Pathway of Major Avenanthramides in Oat [PDF]

open access: yesMetabolites, 2019
Avenanthramides are a group of N-cinnamoylanthranilic acids, with health-promoting properties mainly found in oat (Avena sativa L.). However, the biosynthetic mechanism for the main three types of avenanthramides (Avn-A, Avn-B and Avn-C) is not completely understood.

Determination of selected phenolic acid and majoritarian avenanthramides in different varieties of naked oats (Avena sativa L.) grown in Slovakia

open access: yesNova Biotechnologica et Chimica, 2018
Oats are important cereals. Oats are a good source of protein and lipids, polyphenolics, phenolic acids, flavonoids and avenanthramides. Avenanthramides is phenolic group, which is unique in oats and have antioxidant activity, anti-inflammatory, anti ...

Avenanthramides Prevent Osteoblast and Osteocyte Apoptosis and Induce Osteoclast Apoptosis in Vitro in an Nrf2-Independent Manner [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Oats contain unique bioactive compounds known as avenanthramides (AVAs) with antioxidant properties. AVAs might enhance the endogenous antioxidant cellular response by activation of the transcription factor Nrf2.
