Electron microscopic visualization of tRNA genes with ferritin-avidin: biotin labels [PDF]

open access: green, 1978
A method is described for indirect electron microscopic visualization and mapping of tRNA and other short transcripts hybridized to DNA. This method depends upon the attachment of the electron-dense protein ferritin to the RNA, the binding being mediated

Selective targeting of proteins by hybrid polyoxometalates: Interaction between a bis-biotinylated hybrid conjugate and avidin [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2018
The Keggin-type polyoxometalate [\u3b3-SiW10O36]8 12 was covalently modified to obtain a bis-biotinylated conjugate able to bind avidin. Spectroscopic studies such as UV-vis, fluorimetry, circular dichroism, coupled to surface plasmon resonance technique

Purification and crystallization of avidin [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1970
An improved purification, including crystallization, of avidin from hen's-egg white is described. The product bound 15.1μg of biotin/mg, corresponding to an equivalent weight of 16200. The amino acid composition showed an integral number of amino acid residues per 16200g, which suggested that each molecule of avidin (mol. wt. approx.

Three-dimensional structures of avidin and the avidin-biotin complex. [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1993
The crystal structures of a deglycosylated form of the egg-white glycoprotein avidin and of its complex with biotin have been determined to 2.6 and 3.0 A, respectively. The structures reveal the amino acid residues critical for stabilization of the tetrameric assembly and for the exceptionally tight binding of biotin.

Protein-mediated dethreading of a biotin-functionalised pseudorotaxane [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In this article, we describe the synthesis of new biotin-functionalised naphthalene derivatives 3 and 4 and their complexation behaviour with avidin and neutravidin using a range of analytical techniques.

An oligofluorene truxene based distributed feedback laser for biosensing applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The first example of an all-organic oligofluorene truxene based distributed feedback laser for the detection of a specific protein–small molecule interaction is reported.

Pre-hybridisation: an efficient way of suppressing endogenous biotin-binding activity inherent to biotin–streptavidin detection system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Endogenous biotin or biotinylated protein binding activity is a major drawback to biotin-avidin/streptavidin detection system. The avidin/streptavidin conjugate used to detect the complex of the biotinylated secondary antibody and the primary antibody ...

Charge based intra-cartilage delivery of single dose dexamethasone using Avidin nano-carriers suppresses cytokine-induced catabolism long term [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Objective: Avidin exhibits ideal characteristics for targeted intra-cartilage drug delivery: its small size and optimal positive charge enable rapid penetration through full-thickness cartilage and electrostatic binding interactions that give long half ...

Thermochemistry of the Avidin‐Biotin Reaction [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1972
The enthalpy for the binding of biotin to avidin has been determined at 25, 34 and 43°C (pH 9, ammonium acetate buffer): ΔH(25°C) =–22.5 ± 0.1 kcal/mol biotin; ΔCp=–237 ± 12 cal × mol biotin−1× K−1.Solubilities and enthalpies of solution of biotin in water and in ethanol were determined at 25°C. The transfer process for biotin between water and ethanol

A New ELISA Using the ANANAS Technology Showing High Sensitivity to diagnose the Bovine Rhinotracheitis from Individual Sera to Pooled Milk [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Diagnostic tests for veterinary surveillance programs should be efficient, easy to use and, possibly, economical. In this context, classic Enzyme linked ImmunoSorbent Assay (ELISA) remains the most common analytical platform employed for serological ...
