Expression of Efflux Pumps and Fatty Acid Activator One Genes in Azole Resistant Candida Glabrata Isolated From Immunocompromised Patients

open access: yesActa Medica Iranica, 2016
Acquired azole resistance in opportunistic fungi causes severe clinical problems in immunosuppressed individuals. This study investigated the molecular mechanisms of azole resistance in clinical isolates of Candida glabrata.

Gold Nanoparticles Coated With the Antimicrobial Peptide Os‐C(W5): Anticandidal and Biological Activity

open access: yesJournal of Peptide Science, Volume 32, Issue 9, September 2026.
Gold nanoparticles conjugated with a tick‐derived antimicrobial peptide, Os‐C(W5), demonstrate enhanced proteolytic stability and potent antifungal activity against Candida albicans biofilms and planktonic cells. These non‐cytotoxic nanoconjugates represent a promising biocompatible strategy for combating resistant fungal infections while maintaining ...

Comparision of MICs of some Iranian Herbal Essences Against Azole Resistance and Azole Susceptible of Candida Albicans

open access: yesJournal of Medicinal Plants, 2008
Background: Candida albicans is the most important species, cause candida infections. The common forms of candidiasis are cutaneous and mucosal candidiasis, include oral (thrush), Vaginal candidiasis and onychomycosis.

Mechanochemistry as an Emerging Tool for Organofluorine Chemistry

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2026.
Fluorinated scaffolds are central across many areas of chemistry, driving the demand for efficient and sustainable synthetic methods. Mechanochemistry has emerged as a powerful alternative to conventional approaches, offering reduced environmental impact, shorter reaction times, and unique reactivity and selectivity.

Effects of the HDAC6/8 Inhibitor MC1568, Alone and in Combination With Fluconazole, in Non‐Albicans Candida Species Infections

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
This study explores new antifungal strategies to combat non‐albicans Candida species. We tested clinically approved HDAC inhibitors—Vorinostat, Romidepsin, Tucidinostat—and the HDAC6/8‐selective MC1568, alone and with Fluconazole. The Fluconazole/MC1568 combination significantly enhanced antifungal activity and reduced biofilm formation.

From Oral Candidiasis to Candidemia: A Review of Superficial to Invasive Progression

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Recent and limited evidence indicates that oral candidiasis can disseminate Candida albicans throughout the body, leading to invasive candidiasis, such as candidemia, a life‐threatening infection. Considering antifungal resistance and global outbreaks of emergent non‐albicans Candida and related yeasts, murine models help understand dissemination ...

Azole‐Based Diarylbenzenes for Molecular Solar Thermal Energy Storage: A Computational Analysis

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 29, 3 August 2026.
Diarylethenes containing aromatic π‐linkers have attracted research interest in recent years owing to their potential applications in molecular solar thermal (MOST) energy storage systems. In this work, we demonstrate that replacing the thienyl core of diarylbenzenes with an oxazole core and introducing lateral alkyl‐substituents on the oxazole core ...

An epigenetic mechanism of azole tolerance facilitates acquired antifungal resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus

open access: yesmBio
Antibiotic tolerance paves the way for acquired resistance in bacterial pathogens. However, the mechanisms of tolerance and its evolutionary role in acquired resistance in pathogenic fungi, and particularly in filamentous fungi, remain elusive.

Fungicide Drives De Novo Evolution of Multidrug Resistance in the Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacterium, Pseudomonas fluorescens

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, Volume 19, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Soil microbial communities underpin key ecosystem processes, including plant health, nutrient cycling and primary productivity. In agricultural soils, beneficial soil bacteria are often exposed to multiple stressors simultaneously, including fungicides, antibiotics, and warming temperatures. Despite their ecological importance, little is known
