Rhenium Complexes as Antimicrobial Agents
Rhenium complexes are stepping into the fight against superbugs. Our new review explores how these metallic complexes could inspire the next generation of antimicrobial therapies. ABSTRACT The escalating crisis of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) necessitates the exploration of unconventional therapeutic scaffolds.

Nonrandom Distribution of Azole Resistance across the Global Population of
The emergence of azole resistance in the pathogenic fungus Aspergillus fumigatus has continued to increase, with the dominant resistance mechanisms, consisting of a 34-nucleotide tandem repeat (TR34)/L98H and TR46/Y121F/T289A, now showing a structured ...

The Lipid Composition of Azole-sensitive and Azole-resistant Strains of Candida albicans [PDF]
The lipid compositions of two azole-sensitive (A and B2630) and two azole-resistant (AD and KB) strains of the opportunistic fungal pathogen Candida albicans were studied by using several lipid extraction procedures: no differences were observed between the lipid content or total phospholipid/neutral lipid ratios of the four strains.

Naganishia diffluens, a rare non‐neoformans cryptococcal species, was identified by PCR sequencing as the causative agent of oral cryptococcosis in a 31‐year‐old Iranian man with β‐thalassemia. This case represents the first documented instance of oral infection by N.

The graphical abstract summarizes the laboratory characterization of Naganishia uzbekistanensis strain CY11558. The isolate shows distinct colony morphology, globular yeast cells with a fibrillar surface network under scanning electron microscopy, and a weakly positive cryptococcal antigen reaction.

Probing the role of point mutations in the cyp51A gene from Aspergillus fumigatus in the model yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae [PDF]
Azole-resistant strains of Aspergillus fumigatus have been detected and the underlying molecular mechanisms of resistance characterized. Point mutations in the cyp51A gene have been proved to be related to azole resistance in A.

The effect of succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor/azole mixtures on selection of Zymoseptoria tritici isolates with reduced sensitivity [PDF]
Combining fungicides with different modes of action is regarded as one of the most effective means of slowing the selection of resistance. Field trials were used to study the effects of such mixtures on selection for Zymoseptoria tritici with reduced ...

Epidemiological and genomic landscape of azole resistance mechanisms in Aspergillus fungi
Invasive aspergillosis is a life-threatening mycosis caused by the pathogenic fungus Aspergillus. The predominant causal species is Aspergillus fumigatus, and azole drugs are the treatment of choice.
