Environmental azole fungicide, prochloraz, can induce cross-resistance to medical triazoles in Candida glabrata [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Acquisition of azole resistance by clinically relevant yeasts in nature may result in a significant, yet undetermined, impact in human health. The main goal of this study was to assess the development of cross-resistance between agricultural and clinical

The continuing significance of chiral agrochemicals

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1697-1716, April 2025.
In the time frame 2018–2023, around 43% of the 35 chiral agrochemicals introduced to the market (herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, acaricides, and nematicides) contain one or more stereogenic centers in the molecule, and almost 69% of them have been marketed as racemic mixtures of enantiomers or stereoisomers.

Regional Standardization of CLL Management: Results of a Delphi Consensus Process

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The therapeutic landscape of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) has been profoundly transformed by the introduction of Bruton tyrosine kinase and BCL‐2 inhibitors. Despite improved survival outcomes, treatment selection remains complex, particularly in older patients with comorbidities, frailty, and increased infectious vulnerability.

Selectivity improvement of an azole inhibitor of CYP707A by replacing the monosubstituted azole with a disubstituted azole

open access: yesBioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2010
The plant growth-retardant uniconazole (UNI), a triazole inhibitor of gibberellin biosynthetic enzyme (CYP701A), inhibits multiple P450 enzymes including ABA 8'-hydroxylase (CYP707A), a key enzyme in ABA catabolism. Azole P450 inhibitors bind to a P450 active site by both coordinating to the heme-iron atom via sp2 nitrogen and interacting with ...

Deep and disseminated dermatophytosis in immunocompromised populations—A systematic review

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Dermatophyte infections of the dermis and subcutaneous tissue (i.e. deep dermatophytosis)—associated with secondary complications including pseudomycetoma and systemic dissemination—affect vulnerable populations with primary or acquired immunodeficiencies.

Azole-Resistance in Aspergillus terreus and Related Species: An Emerging Problem or a Rare Phenomenon?

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Objectives: Invasive mold infections associated with Aspergillus species are a significant cause of mortality in immunocompromised patients. The most frequently occurring aetiological pathogens are members of the Aspergillus section Fumigati followed by ...

DFT investigations on arylsulphonyl pyrazole derivatives as potential ligands of selected kinases

open access: yesOpen Chemistry, 2020
Using the density functional theory (DFT) formalism, we have investigated the properties of some arylsulphonyl indazole derivatives that we studied previously for their biological activity and susceptibility to interactions of azoles. This study includes

Azole-ResistantAspergillus fumigatus, Iran

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2013
To the Editor: Aspergillus fumigatus causes a variety of diseases in humans. The drugs recommended for treatment of Aspergillus diseases are the mold-active azole antifungal drugs (1). However, a wide range of mutations in A. fumigatus confer azole resistance, which commonly involves modifications in the cyp51A gene (2), the target for azole antifungal

Practical recommendations for seborrheic dermatitis management: An expert consensus

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
This modified Delphi study established expert consensus on Seborrheic Dermatitis management. Key findings prioritize combined topical antifungal and anti‐inflammatory therapy for both acute flares and long‐term maintenance. The consensus also provides a clear framework for escalating to systemic treatment in extensive or refractory cases.

Antifungal Susceptibility of Malassezia pachydermatis Isolates from Companion Animals and Genomic Insights into Resistance Mechanisms

open access: yesAntibiotics
Background/Objectives: Malassezia pachydermatis is a lipophilic yeast frequently associated with otitis externa and dermatological disorders in companion animals. This study aimed to evaluate the antifungal susceptibility of M.
