In vitro activities of the essential antimicrobial agents including aztreonam/avibactam, eravacycline, colistin, and other comparators against carbapenem-resistant bacteria with different carbapenemase genes: a multicenter study in China, 2021.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antimicrobial Agents
OBJECTIVE Carbapenem-resistant bacteria (CRB), including carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (CRAB), carbapenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (CRPA), and carbapenem-resistant Enterobacterales (CRE), pose a considerable threat to public health

Detection of blaNDM‐1 and blaIMP‐1 Metallo‐β‐Lactamases in Meropenem‐Resistant Clinical Escherichia coli Isolates Using Modified Carbapenem Inactivation Method (mCIM) and PCR Techniques

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 39, Issue 21, November 2025.
This study examines the prevalence of blaNDM‐1 and blaIMP‐1 metallo‐β‐lactamase genes in meropenem‐resistant Escherichia coli isolates using mCIM and PCR. The results indicate a higher prevalence of blaNDM‐1 and suggest the presence of alternative resistance mechanisms in some strains, emphasizing the need for further research on antimicrobial ...

Antibiotic Resistance: A Genetic and Physiological Perspective

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 11, November 2025.
The development of resistance to antimicrobials and their historical progression are depicted in this graphic. It draws attention to important biochemical, physiological, and genetic factors that contribute to AMR, such as the transmission of genes, the development of biofilms, and the inactivation of antibiotics.

Ceftazidime-avibactam/aztreonam combination synergy against carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative isolates: In vitro study

open access: yesCurrent Medicine Research and Practice
Background: The ceftazidime-avibactam combination is able to inhibit ESBLs, AmpCs and Class A carbapenemases and has been recommended for the treatment of complicated UTIs and ventilator-associated bacterial pneumonia.

Amidine Syntheses from Classic to Contemporary for Medicinal Lead Compounds and Natural Products

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, Volume 28, Issue 40, October 29, 2025.
A revolution is underway in the synthesis of amidines with new methods unlocking complex, highly substituted amidines or closely related derivatives such as N‐sulfonyl amidines. This review surveys recent advances in amidines and related compounds, including methods to install them and bioactive molecules prominently featuring the amidine functionality.

Enhancement and Comparison of (Ceftazidime-)Avibactam Plus Aztreonam Susceptibility Tests for Stenotrophomonas maltophilia in Clinical Diagnostics [PDF]

open access: yes
Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is naturally resistant to many antimicrobials. We evaluated the in vitro activity and reproducibility of two different super-position methods of aztreonam in combination with ceftazidime-avibactam for S.

Interaction of Avibactam with Class B Metallo-β-Lactamases. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
β-Lactamases are the most important mechanisms of resistance to the β-lactam antibacterials. There are two mechanistic classes of β-lactamases: the serine β-lactamases (SBLs) and the zinc-dependent metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs).

Phenotypic, Targeted Genotypic, and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Profiling of Extended‐Spectrum β‐Lactamase Production and Exclusive blaOXA−48 Gene Detection in Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolates From a South Lebanese Hospital

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 39, Issue 20, October 2025.
This study investigates the prevalence of multidrug‐resistant Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in South Lebanon's Saida region, focusing on ESBL and carbapenemase production. Results showed a high prevalence of ESBL producers (89.5%) and a lower rate of carbapenemase producers (10.5%), with blaCTX‐M being the most common ESBL gene.

Bioprospecting Heavy‐Metal Rhizospheres for Novel Therapeutics Against High‐Priority Multi‐Drug‐Resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Acinetobacter baumannii: A Case of Toxic to Treatment

open access: yesEnvironmental Microbiology Reports, Volume 17, Issue 5, October 2025.
Heavy metal stress induced the secretion of metabolites not secreted by non‐stressed microbiota. Heavy metal‐stressed microbiota secrete metabolites that inhibit XDR pathogens effectively. UPLC LC–MS tentatively identified novel metabolites, Tolyposamine and Gentiatibetine.

Treatment of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative skin and soft tissue infections [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Purpose of reviewThe increase in skin and soft tissue infections (SSTI) because of multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens is a global concern. Although MDR Gram-negative bacteria (GNB) are often overlooked as a cause of SSTIs, their burden on the morbidity ...
