Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

B Cell Activation in Insulin Resistance and Obesity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Our group has demonstrated that inflammatory diseases such as type 2 diabetes (DM), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and periodontal disease (PD) are associated with altered B cell function that may contribute to disease pathogenesis. B cells were found

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia-associated nuclear antigens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
One- and two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis were used to compare the composition of nuclear polypeptides from normal and В-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia mononuclear cells.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Uncovering regulatory B‐cell features associated with regulatory T‐cell expansion and global T‐cell exhaustion in Waldenström macroglobulinemia Myd88L252P‐like lymphoplasmacytic lymphomas

open access: yesHemaSphere
Waldenström's macroglobulinemia (WM) is a rare, indolent lymphoproliferative disorder, genetically characterized by the presence of the L265P mutation in the MYD88 gene in almost all cases, resulting in constitutive activation of NF‐kappa B (NF‐κB ...

A Rasa3-Gαi signaling axis orchestrates B lymphocyte trafficking into and through lymphoid organs

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: By modulating integrin affinity, the GTP/GDP status of Rap1 affects the arrest, transendothelial migration, and the trafficking of lymphocytes, yet how chemoattractant receptors control Rap1 remains incompletely resolved.
