A Novel Betabaculovirus Isolated from the Monocot Pest Mocis latipes (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) and the Evolution of Multiple-Copy Genes

open access: yesViruses, 2018
In this report, we described the genome of a novel baculovirus isolated from the monocot insect pest Mocis latipes, the striped grass looper. The genome has 134,272 bp in length with a G + C content of 38.3%.

Monodon Baculovirus of Shrimp [PDF]

open access: yesIndian Journal of Virology, 2012
Among the viruses infecting penaeid shrimp, monodon-type baculovirus (MBV) otherwise known as Penaeus monodon singly enveloped nuclear polyhedrosis virus (PmSNPV), is one of the widely reported and well described viruses. It is a rod-shaped, enveloped, double-stranded DNA virus, and considered till recently, as the type A baculovirus.

Purification of baculovirus vectors using heparin affinity chromatography

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Methods & Clinical Development, 2016
Baculoviruses are commonly used for recombinant protein and vaccine production. Baculoviruses are nonpathogenic to vertebrates, have a large packaging capacity, display broad host and cell type tropism, infect both dividing and nondividing cells, and do ...

A rapid method for titrating baculovirus stocks using the Sf-9 Easy Titer cell line

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2009
A new rapid method for titrating baculovirus stocks has been developed using a novel cell line Sf-9 Easy Titer (Sf-9ET). The Sf-9ET cell line has been transfected with plasmid DNA containing the enhanced green fluorescent protein (eGFP) gene under the ...

Surface displaying of swine IgG1 Fc enhances baculovirus-vectored vaccine efficacy by facilitating viral complement escape and mammalian cell transduction

open access: yesVeterinary Research, 2017
Baculovirus-mediated gene transfer has been developed as a vaccine design strategy against a number of diseases without apparent viral replication. However, it has been hampered by complement-dependent inactivation, thus hindering the in vivo application

Improving baculovirus recombination [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2003
Recombinant baculoviruses have established themselves as a favoured technology for the high-level expression of recombinant proteins. The construction of recombinant viruses, however, is a time consuming step that restricts consideration of the technology for high throughput developments. Here we use a targeted gene knockout technology to inactivate an

Baculovirus Surface Display Using Infuenza Neuraminidase (NA) Transmembrane Anchor

open access: yesJournal of Tropical Life Science, 2016
Baculovirus surface display has been employed as an excellent tools for presentation of foreign peptides and proteins on virus surface with native conformation, functions and immunogenicity. A baculovirus major envelope protein, gp64, or a capsid protein,

Use of the piggyBac transposon to create HIV-1 gag transgenic insect cell lines for continuous VLP production

open access: yesBMC Biotechnology, 2010
Background Insect baculovirus-produced Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) Gag virus-like-particles (VLPs) stimulate good humoral and cell-mediated immune responses in animals and are thought to be suitable as a vaccine candidate.

A construction strategy for a baculovirus‐silkworm multigene expression system and its application for coexpression of type I and type II interferons

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, 2020
The Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) baculovirus expression system (BES) is a eukaryotic expression system. It possesses great capability for post‐translation modification in expression of foreign proteins. With the counterselection cassette rpsL‐

Chemically Defined, High-Density Insect Cell-Based Expression System for Scalable AAV Vector Production

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Methods & Clinical Development, 2020
The recombinant adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector is one of the most utilized viral vectors in gene therapy due to its robust, long-term in vivo transgene expression and low toxicity.
