Elevated, FcεRI‐dependent MRGPRX2 expression on basophils in chronic urticaria

open access: yesSkin Health and Disease, 2023
Background Chronic urticaria (CU) is a skin condition driven by mast cells and basophils. The exact responsiveness profile of these cells, especially regarding the anti‐IgE treatment, Omalizumab, is not fully investigated.

Engineered TIGIT‐Blockade Membrane Vesicles Synergize with Microwave Ablation to Mediate Liver Metastases Eradication

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microwave ablation (MWA) represents a highly effective and clinically significant therapeutic modality for the treatment of liver metastases. This study develops engineered cell membrane vesicles to specifically target the transition zone of MWA for liver metastases. This strategy can inhibit VEGF‐mediated immunosuppression, block CD155/TIGIT signaling

IL-3 produced by T cells is crucial for basophil extravasation in hapten-induced allergic contact dermatitis

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2023
Basophils have been recognized as a characterized cellular player for Th2 immune responses implicated in allergic diseases, but the mechanisms responsible for basophil recruitment to allergic skin remain not well understood.

Local Specific IgE Levels Can Predict and Monitor the Therapeutic Response to Subcutaneous Immunotherapy With House Dust Mite

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Identifying predictive and monitoring biomarkers for allergen immunotherapy response is crucial for enhancing clinical efficacy. This study aims to investigate the systemic and local levels of immunoglobulins and identify potential biomarkers in house dust mite (HDM) allergic rhinitis (AR) patients who are undergoing subcutaneous ...

Basophils activation of patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria in response to C5a despite failure to respond to IgE-mediated stimuli

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2022
Urticaria is characterized by the occurrence of wheals and flares in response to vasoactive mediators, such as histamine. Various studies have suggested the involvement of basophils in the pathogenesis of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU).

Dupilumab Beyond the Airway: Decreased Morbidity in a Real‐World Analysis

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Post hoc analyses of clinical trials have characterized dupilumab's adverse effects, yet the real‐world impact in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) and asthma is not well described. This study aims to characterize the risks of lymphoma, cardiovascular events, eosinophilia, joint pain, inflammatory arthritis, and ...

Emerging roles of basophils in allergic inflammation

open access: yesAllergology International, 2017
Basophils have long been neglected in immunological studies because they were regarded as only minor relatives of mast cells. However, recent advances in analytical tools for basophils have clarified the non-redundant roles of basophils in allergic ...

Interleukin‐5, Eosinophils, and Interleukin‐5 Pathway Inhibitors in Eosinophilic Granulomatosis With Polyangiitis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Interlukin‐5 (IL‐5) plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) by promoting eosinophil differentiation, activation, and survival. We present here a typical case of EGPA in which treatment with IL‐5 pathway inhibitors is prescribed, showing to be beneficial for the patient.

Multi‐omic profiling reveals immune cell priming signature linked to lupus prognosis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, Accepted Article.
Objective Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multi‐organ disease with widespread immune dysregulation and significant unmet clinical need. Blood‐based gene expression studies have advanced our understanding of SLE pathogenesis but may overlook critical tissue‐specific mechanisms that drive disease heterogeneity and progression.

Parallelized Immunomagnetic Isolation of Basophils Directly from Whole Blood

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research
Basophils are the rarest circulating white blood cells (WBCs), but they play important roles in allergic disorders and other diseases. To enhance diagnostic capabilities, it would be desirable to isolate and analyze basophils efficiently from small blood
