This study describes derivation of two distinct mechanosensory subpopulations from human pluripotent stem cells using a transcription factor mediated approach. Of significance, functional interrogation of induced mechanosensory subtypes reveal their unique responses to mechanical stimulation in the absence of end‐organs.

Fluoxetine: a case history of its discovery and preclinical development [PDF]
Introduction: Depression is a multifactorial mood disorder with a high prevalence worldwide. Until now, treatments for depression have focused on the inhibition of monoaminergic reuptake sites, which augment the bioavailability of monoamines in the CNS ...

Using human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs)‐derived neuronal model, Tian and colleagues reveal that voltage‐gated calcium channels Cav1.2 and Cav1.3, and their mediated calcium ion influx, are essential for early morphogenesis of human neuronal development, while ECEL1 underlies human neuronal functional developmental maturation through CALM3 ...

Dual Targeting of Tau Kinases and Autophagy by Abemaciclib Independent of CDK4/6 Inhibition
Abemaciclib rescues cognitive function and attenuates tau pathology in Alzheimer's disease models, but not through its known cancer‐fighting mechanism. This study demonstrates that abemaciclib operates independently of CDK4/6 inhibition, instead directly targeting tau kinases CaMKII and GSK3β while simultaneously promoting autophagic clearance of ...

An Investigation of the Role of Sex Difference in the Effect of Fluoxetine on Behavioral and Biochemical Changes in Male and Female Rats Exposed to Stress [PDF]
Background and purpose: Unpredictable stressors cause changes in behavioral parameters such as motor and exploratory behaviors, feeding, and sexual and anxiety behaviors. Stress leads to the release of corticosteroids and, as a result, causes dysfunction
