Monocytes Derived From Human Pluripotent Stem Cells Engineered for Detection of Pyrogens

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
In summary, we have developed a monocyte‐based reporter system using hESC‐Mono for interrogating the NF‐κB signalling axis, a central pathway governing pyrogenic responses. Our platform enables rapid and dose‐dependent detection of both endotoxins (LPS) and non‐endotoxins (LTA and Zymosan).

Structural and thermodynamic analyses of a novel β‐1,2‐glucan binding mode in the ABC transporter solute‐binding protein Chy400_4166 from Chloroflexus aurantiacus

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Cyclic β‐1,2‐glucan (CβG)‐associated solute‐binding protein of type I ABC transporter was originally identified in Chloroflexus aurantiacus, a phototrophic bacterium. Crystal structures in complex with CβGs revealed unique binding modes that are fundamentally distinct from that of the short β‐1,2‐glucooligosaccharides‐binding protein.

Hyphal cell walls from the plant pathogen Rhynchosporium secalis contain (1,3/1,6)-beta-D-glucans, galacto- and rhamnomannans, (1,3;1,4)-beta-D-glucans and chitin

open access: yes, 2009
A procedure has been developed for the isolation of cell walls from the hyphae of the causal agent for barley leaf scald, Rhynchosporium secalis (Oudem) J.J. Davis.

A review of skin microbiome and new challenges to cosmetic microbiome‐friendly formulations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
Microbiome‐friendly concepts offer new perspectives for a healthy relationship between cosmetic use and the skin microbiome, especially the interaction of non‐biotic cosmetic ingredients with the skin, requiring further studies to clarify the dynamics between the skin microbiome and different classes of cosmetic ingredients.

Characterization of the Immune-Modulating Properties of Different β-Glucans on Myeloid Dendritic Cells

open access: yes
In allergen-specific immunotherapy, adjuvants are explored for modulating allergen-specific Th2 immune responses to re-establish clinical tolerance. One promising class of adjuvants are β-glucans, which are naturally derived sugar structures and ...
