Mr BMT Achieves Systemic Macrophage Replacement With Preservation of Tissue Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microglia replacement by bone marrow transplantation (Mr BMT) enables systemic replacement of tissue‐resident macrophages. Despite persistent macrophage and tissue remodeling across multiple organs, core biological functions and innate immune responses remain preserved, supporting long‐term maintenance of organismal homeostasis and the therapeutic ...

Cholesterol nucleation time in gallbladder bile of patients with solitary or multiple cholesterol gallstones [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Patients with multiple cholesterol gallbladder stones have been found to be at a higher risk for the recurrence of gallstones after successful nonsurgical treatment than those with a solitary stone.

BAREing it all: the adoption of LXR and FXR and their roles in lipid homeostasis

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2002
During the last three years there have been a plethora of publications on the liver X-activated receptors (LXRα, NR1H3, and LXRβ, NR1H2), the farnesoid X-activated receptor (FXR, NR1H4), and the pregnane X receptor (PXR, NR1I2) and the role these nuclear

Bioengineered Exosome‐Loaded Immunomodulatory Bioadhesive Spray Reverses Liver Fibrosis and Metabolic Dysfunction That Triggers Beneficial Gut‐Liver Crosstalk in Chronic Fatty Liver Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Umbilical cord stem cell‐derived exosomes encapsulated in an immunomodulatory bioadhesive hydrogel spray enable localized therapy, sustained vesicle delivery, macrophage polarization, suppress systemic inflammation, and mitigate glucose and insulin homeostasis impairments in MAFLD.

Bile acid control of metabolism and inflammation in obesity, type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia and NAFLD Short title: Bile acids in meta-inflammatory disorders

open access: yes, 2017
Oscar Chávez-Talavera MD and Anne Tailleux PhD contributed equally.International audienceBile acids are signaling molecules, which coordinately regulate metabolism and inflammation via the nuclear farnesoid X receptor (FXR) and the Takeda G protein ...

Machine learning and causal inference applied to the gut metagenome-metabolome axis reveals a link between neonatal jaundice and autism spectrum disorder

open access: yesmSystems
Neonatal jaundice (NJ) might increase the risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in children. This study examined whether alterations in the gut microbiota could explain the link between NJ and ASD.

Cobalt Single‐Atom Nanozyme for Enhanced Intestinal Radioprotection and Tumor Radiosensitization via Bidirectional ROS Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Orally administered, pH‐responsive Co‐SAN exerts dual functions: in the alkaline intestinal milieu, it scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS) and suppresses the PI3K/AKT pathway and NETs formation, thus providing radioprotection; whereas in the acidic tumor microenvironment, it generates ROS and alleviates hypoxia, thereby enhancing radiosensitization.

HMGCR‐Driven Cholesterol Metabolism Promotes Osteoarthritis Progression by Accelerating Synovial Fibroblast Senescence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the pathological context of osteoarthritis (OA), the phosphorylation of AKT1 at Ser473 enhances its binding to Lys140 of Insig1, which facilitates the formation of AKT1–Insig1 complex. Subsequently, the activation of AKT1 promotes the phosphorylation of Insig1 at Ser189, potentially enhancing the dissociation of Insig1 from sterol regulatory element‑

Bile Acid Signaling in Liver Metabolism and Diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Obesity, diabetes, and metabolic syndromes are increasingly recognized as health concerns worldwide. Overnutrition and insulin resistance are the major causes of diabetic hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia in humans.
