Bisphenol A and Its Analogs: Toxicity Analysis in Mouse and Rat Liver—A Review

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bisphenol A (BPA) and its analogs are widely recognized for their use in industry and plastic manufacturing. Consequently, humans and animals are continually exposed to various substances in their daily lives. This review evaluates the hepatic toxicity of BPA and its analogs in mice and rats, with particular emphasis on molecular mechanisms ...

Bisphenol M Induces Dose‐Dependent Hepatic Injury and Fibrotic Remodeling in Female Mice

open access: yesJournal of Applied Toxicology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The safety of bisphenol analogs as alternatives to bisphenol A (BPA) is increasingly concerning. This study investigated the hepatotoxic effects of bisphenol M (BPM), a widely used BPA substitute, in 6‐week‐old female BALB/c mice exposed to 2.5, 5, and 10 mg/kg/day intraperitoneally for 14 days. Hepatic changes were assessed via histopathology,

Portal vein peak systolic velocity is a useful noninvasive predictor of high‐risk varices in biliary atresia

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Portal vein (PV) flow velocity is considered an indicator of portal hypertension. However, few studies have evaluated the predictive performance of PV flow velocity for high‐risk varices (HRV) in children with biliary atresia (BA). In this study, we evaluated the predictive performance of PV peak systolic velocity (PSV) for HRV in ...

Effects of post‐hepatic portoenterostomy adjuvant therapy on liver transplantation in children with biliary atresia: A systematic review

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Biliary atresia (BA) is a cholangiopathy characterized by obstruction of the intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts. Hepatic portoenterostomy (HPE) is the primary palliative treatment and there is still an urgent need to improve post‐HPE management.

Normal cholestanol in a genetically confirmed cerebrotendious xanthomatosis case presenting as neonatal jaundice

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis (CTX) is a treatable genetic disorder associated with deficiency of the sterol 27‐hydroxylase enzyme (CYP27A1), important in bile acid synthesis. CTX may present in the newborn period as hepatic jaundice/cholestasis, that can resolve or can progress to fatal liver disease.

Anti‐hypercholesterolemic effects of barley and its role in the management of metabolic disorders: A comprehensive review

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract The dietary and lifestyle practices have predominantly compromised human health, which are influenced by modernization and industrialization. Hypercholesterolemia, caused by the consumption of fatty and fried foods and a sedentary lifestyle, is a major modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease and commonly coexists with obesity ...

Molecular mechanisms linking food processing to the human gut microbiome and metabolic health: A critical review

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Food processing can improve safety, shelf life, digestibility and sensory quality, but it can also alter the food matrix, remove microbiota‐accessible substrates and introduce additives or heat‐derived compounds that modify host–microbe interactions.
