Variable-focus microscopy and UV surface dissolution imaging as complementary techniques in intrinsic dissolution rate determination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This work reports a novel approach to the assessment of the surface properties of compacts used in Surface Dissolution Imaging (SDI). SDI is useful for determining intrinsic dissolution rate (IDR), an important parameter in early stage drug development ...

Remote Activation of Hollow Nanoreactors for Heterogeneous Photocatalysis in Biorelevant Media [PDF]

open access: yesNano Letters, 2020
Major current challenges in nano-biotechnology and nano-biomedicine include the implementation of predesigned chemical reactions in biological environments. In this context, heterogeneous catalysis is emerging as a promising approach to extend the richness of organic chemistry onto the complex environments inherent to living systems.

Hydrodynamics and mechanical stresses in pharmacopoeial and noncompendial dissolution testing [PDF]

open access: yesFarmacja Polska, 2020
The first and an essential step of medication’s path inside the human body is a dissolution of an active pharmaceutical ingridient. A dissolution of oral dosage forms occurs as a result of physicochemical and mechanical stresses which are found in ...

Can biorelevant media be simplified by using SLS and tween 80 to replace bile compounds? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the scientific literature, the use of a surfactant is recommended for both designing quality control tests for water insoluble or sparingly water soluble drugs and for predicting the bioavailability of drugs from various types of formulations.

Bidirectional Photoswitching of a Tailored Azobenzene with Red and Far‐Red Light Involving Triplet Sensitization in an Aqueous System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The action spectrum of a tailored azobenzene is shifted toward bio‐optical window through the chemical modification of its singlet and triplet energy levels. Consequently, the bidirectional photo‐switching of azobenzene in physiological conditions is achieved when excited by red and far‐red light, which offers greater tissue penetration.

The Diarylprolinol Silyl Ethers: After 20 Years Still Opening New Doors in Asymmetric Catalysis

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 11, 9 March 2026.
Catalysis Rules! The year 2025 marks the 20th anniversary of diarylprolinol silyl ethers in asymmetric organocatalysis. During the first decade after their discovery, these catalysts have been established as one of the most versatile tools in aminocatalysis. Although now considered mature, recent years have witnessed renewed innovation.

Albendazole Solid Dispersions: Influence of Dissolution Medium Composition on In Vitro Drug Release [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The rate-limiting step to drug absorption is often dissolution from the dosage form, especially for poorly soluble com-pounds. Two possibilities for improving the dissolution of these drugs are to increase the available surface area and to im-prove their

Tensile Stimulation in Biorelevant Culture Conditions Enhances MSC and TPSC Tenogenesis on Aligned Electrospun Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Biomimetic electrospun scaffold incorporating GDF‐7‐loaded mesoporous silica nanoparticles, combined with mechanical stimulation and physiological oxygen tension, guides tenogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stromal cell and tendon progenitor stem cell. This integrated approach enhances cell proliferation, matrix deposition, and tendon‐specific gene

Simulated rat intestinal fluid improves oral exposure prediction for poorly soluble compounds over a wide dose range [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Solubility can be the absorption limiting factor for drug candidates and is therefore a very important input parameter for oral exposure prediction of compounds with limited solubility.
