Can biorelevant media be simplified by using SLS and tween 80 to replace bile compounds?

open access: yes, 2013
In the scientific literature, the use of a surfactant is recommended for both designing quality control tests for water insoluble or sparingly water soluble drugs and for predicting the bioavailability of drugs from various types of formulations.

Biorelevant Dissolution: Methodology and Application in Drug Development

open access: yesDissolution Technologies, 2009
INTRODUCTION Dissolution testing can play an important role in several areas for drug products as a quality control tool to monitor batch-to-batch consistency of drug release from a dosage form and as an in vitro surrogate for in vivo performance that can guide formulation development and ascertain the need for bioequivalence tests.

PBPK modeling coupled with biorelevant dissolution to forecast the oral performance of amorphous solid dispersion formulations

open access: yes, 2022
S.83-90The aim of this research was to develop an in silico modeling and simulation approach to predict the oral performance of a poorly soluble drug candidate, T2CP, formulated as an amorphous solid dispersion and an amorphous powder.

Poly(O‐Propargyl‐N‐Amino Carbamate), a Reactive Polymer to Underpin Biomedical Applications of Poly(acetylene)s

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
We report here a new methodology to prepare functional poly(acetylene)s under aqueous conditions. This methodology is underpinned by poly(O‐propargyl‐N‐amino carbamate) (P1), a reactive poly(acetylene) carrying acyl hydrazines. Thus, P1 reacts with aldehydes to give functional poly(acetylene)s, including cationic, hydrophobic, and sugar‐loaded poly ...

Development of a Biphasic-Release Multiple-Unit Pellet System with Diclofenac Sodium Using Novel Calcium Phosphate-Based Starter Pellets

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2021
Novel calcium phosphate-based starter pellets were used to develop a biphasic-release multiple-unit pellet system (MUPS) with diclofenac sodium as a model drug in the form of hard gelatin capsules.

Bidirectional Photoswitching of a Tailored Azobenzene with Red and Far‐Red Light Involving Triplet Sensitization in an Aqueous System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 36, 29 June 2026.
The action spectrum of a tailored azobenzene is shifted toward bio‐optical window through the chemical modification of its singlet and triplet energy levels. Consequently, the bidirectional photo‐switching of azobenzene in physiological conditions is achieved when excited by red and far‐red light, which offers greater tissue penetration.

Biopharmaceutical characterisation of ciprofloxacin-metallic ion interactions: Comparative study into the effect of aluminium, calcium, zinc and iron on drug solubility and dissolution

open access: yesActa Pharmaceutica, 2014
Ciprofloxacin bioavailability may be reduced when ciprofloxacin is co-administered with metallic ion containing preparations. In our previous study, physicochemical interaction between ciprofloxacin and ferrous sulphate was successfully simulated in ...
