Characterization of the depsidone gene cluster reveals etherification, decarboxylation and multiple halogenations as tailoring steps in depsidone assembly

open access: yesActa Pharmaceutica Sinica B, 2023
Depsides and depsidones have attracted attention for biosynthetic studies due to their broad biological activities and structural diversity. Previous structure‒activity relationships indicated that triple halogenated depsidones display the best anti ...

Genetic and functional characterization of the gene cluster directing the biosynthesis of putisolvin I and II in Pseudomonas putida strain PCL1445 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Pseudomonas putida PCL1445 secretes two cyclic lipopeptides, putisolvin I and putisolvin II, which possess a surface-tension-reducing ability, and are able to inhibit biofilm formation and to break down biofilms of Pseudomonas species including ...

Survey of Biosynthetic Gene Clusters from Sequenced Myxobacteria Reveals Unexplored Biosynthetic Potential [PDF]

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2019
Coinciding with the increase in sequenced bacteria, mining of bacterial genomes for biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs) has become a critical component of natural product discovery. The order Myxococcales, a reputable source of biologically active secondary metabolites, spans three suborders which all include natural product producing representatives ...

Systems Biology and Pangenome of Salmonella O-Antigens. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
O-antigens are glycopolymers in lipopolysaccharides expressed on the cell surface of Gram-negative bacteria. Variability in the O-antigen structure constitutes the basis for the establishment of the serotyping schema. We pursued a two-pronged approach to

The erythromycin biosynthetic gene cluster of Aeromicrobium erythreum

open access: yesJournal of Industrial Microbiology & Biotechnology, 2004
The erythromycin-biosynthetic (ery) gene cluster of Aeromicrobium erythreum was cloned and characterized. The 55.4-kb cluster contains 25 ery genes. Homologues were found for each gene in the previously characterized ery gene cluster from Saccharopolyspora erythraea. In addition, four new predicted ery genes were identified.
