Contribution of common and rare variants to bipolar disorder susceptibility in extended pedigrees from population isolates. [PDF]
Current evidence from case/control studies indicates that genetic risk for psychiatric disorders derives primarily from numerous common variants, each with a small phenotypic impact. The literature describing apparent segregation of bipolar disorder (BP)

Microcircuitry of bipolar cells in cat retina [PDF]
We have studied 15 bipolar neurons from a small patch (14 X 120 micron) of adult cat retina located within the area centralis. From electron micrographs of 189 serial ultrathin sections, the axon of each bipolar cell was substantially reconstructed with its synaptic inputs and outputs by means of a computer-controlled reconstruction system.

Synaptic Remodeling in the Cone Pathway After Early Postnatal Horizontal Cell Ablation
The first synapse of the visual pathway is formed by photoreceptors, horizontal cells and bipolar cells. While ON bipolar cells invaginate into the photoreceptor terminal and form synaptic triads together with invaginating horizontal cell processes, OFF ...

Biomimetic flow fields for proton exchange membrane fuel cells: A review of design trends [PDF]
Bipolar Plate design is one of the most active research fields in Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs) development. Bipolar Plates are key components for ensuring an appropriate water management within the cell, preventing flooding and ...

General features of the retinal connectome determine the computation of motion anticipation [PDF]
Motion anticipation allows the visual system to compensate for the slow speed of phototransduction so that a moving object can be accurately located.

Modelling single cell electroporation with bipolar pulse parameters and dynamic pore radii [PDF]
We develop a model of single spherical cell electroporation and simulate spatial and temporal aspects of the transmembrane potential and pore radii as an effect of any form of applied electric field.

Sertraline Treatment Can Mimic Niemann‐Pick Type C Biomarker Profile: A Diagnostic Pitfall
ABSTRACT Background Oxysterols (cholestane‐3β,5α,6β‐triol and 7‐ketocholesterol) and N‐palmitoyl‐O‐phosphocholineserine (PPCS) are sensitive biomarkers for Niemann‐Pick disease type C (NPC) screening. However, false‐positive results occur, with a biomarker profile suggestive of NPC despite the absence of pathogenic variants in genes involved in NPC or ...
